Get shape/movement into lob with fine hair?

I've basically always had a bob as I don't find that long hair suits me, it's very fine and will just hang all flat and lifeless. I'd like to grow it a little longer, just enough to tie up, maybe grazing shoulder length, but what could I do to keep it looking good rather than drab? Ask for something in particular about the cut at the hairdresser? Something to take the 'heaviness' out of it? I've even considered one of those loose perms that puts a bit of some life into it but it's scary as I can imagine it going wrong for me!😂

Maybe it's because anytime my hair has been longer it's just grown out all one length and has no shape? I just don't know what I'd even be asking for, apart from a Rachel and that's not what I'm after. Advice welcomed!

Actually, maybe I don't mean a lob, I mean a mid bob. Mob?! It's pretty short at the moment and I'd like a change but I don't think I can really have anything else! Oh, and I can't curl it or anything, it simply drops out after an hour.

My hair is like yours and I have a graduated bob. It keeps its shape pretty well. I also don't very often use conditioner as that tends to make it go floppy. I have it cut every five weeks to keep the shape.

I also changed my shampoo from high street ones to Kerastase, I use three types, a blonde one, a thickener one and a volume one. I alternate them and have to say it does make a difference.

I'm lucky that my hairdresser cuts and colours it really well, not so much blow drying it though. 🙄

I think I have similar hair to you. Have you tried sea salt spray or a dry shampoo that adds texture and volume? I find this helps to stop it falling flat to my face.
