I have shoulder length very dark, very curly hair. I have recently found a hairdresser who does curl by curl cutting of dry hair to make the most of my curls. At my next appointment in April I want to go shorter with an inverted bob. Lots of volume and hopefully great curls.
I'm starting to see some grey. I'm hoping that like the other women in my family I will go a gorgeous white and will rock that. But until then I thought I would get a bit of color. Maybe some lighter highlights to make the curls pop.
My new hairdresser cannot fit me in for a cut and colour at my appointment so I thought I would book at a different salon (a lot closer to home) but when am I best to get it done, before the cut, or after the cut. And what do I ask for, highlights, balayage something else I haven't heard of? I'd just like to lift it a little, put some colour to define the curls and go a bit lighter to 'tone' in the grey is this even possible. Aside from putting a temporary red box dye on (which did nothing much) as a teenager I am pretty much a dye virgin.
Any advice would be most welcome.
This is close to my current colour and curl pattern. Though mine is currently a lot longer.
