Bought an Isabella Oliver dress and I'm a bit disappointed

Bought it for a wedding, its this one: www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/maternity-dresses/Empire-Wrap-Dress/D/30100/P/2:100: 1020/I/DR59 I thought that it would be really special but it 'feels' a bit ordinary, the fabric doesn't feel good quality and it lacks that 'wow' factor I was expecting Just thought that being a reknowned brand it would be more special, what do others think?

Aww, we need to see it on really.

Me and dresses don't go for maternity - I have a sticky out ledge arse anyway, and I just look freakily like a duck when I have a bump

FourPlusOne · 26/03/2008 19:34

Looks nice in the pic - shame it's not so good in reality. Which colour did you get?

Had been considering splashing out on an isabella oliver outfit for a wedding I have soon. Can't go for that one though, I put weight on all over (not just bump) and my arms aren't fit to be exposed at the moment!

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 26/03/2008 19:36

It's the green one, the colour is great (I've got dark hair and blue eyes and pale complexion). Just feel like a sack of spuds in it!

looks like a gorgeous dress in pic

yomellamoHelly · 26/03/2008 19:48

Is it because you haven't got the right accessories / shoes / makeup to complete the look? I got an IO dress for a wedding. I was also disappointed by how ordinary it seemed to start with (but I had high expectations) but then bought some great jewellery and a wrap and in the end thought I looked really good. Found it to be a very versatile dress (it was the wrap one).

NorthernLurker · 26/03/2008 19:51

you need to try it on with the right shoes to really crack it. It looks like a lovely dress and you are not a sack of spuds - you're a baby carrier What does your other half think?

windygalestoday · 26/03/2008 19:54

is the model wearing it actually pregnant?

im sorry but i dont like it if u feel bad in it dont wear it take it back you deserve a dress that makes you feel a million bucks!!

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 26/03/2008 19:55

That could be true, need some killer shoes (not too high of heel), handbag and cardie/wrap thingy then maybe it would look fine.

DH likes it because it makes my norks look impressive Have gone from a B to a DD cup

hi I bought an isabella oliver dress and felt exactly the same as you. It looks gorgeous on the web but the material is not particulaly flattering and for the price I think the material looks cheap and certainly not worth price

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 26/03/2008 20:00

Glad I'm not the only one Patty, maybe we should feed back our comments to IO. Since heard that Picchu is better, www.picchumaternity.com/uk/acatalog/maternity-evening-wear.html

am sitting in my much anticipated isabella oliver trousers and feel the same about quality of material - I think I would have got better for less than half the price somewhere else

I love my wrap tops though even if they are a complete PITA to iron

pattymc · 26/03/2008 20:08

also agree that some bodies do simple lines better than others, I'm a bit of a tree trunk so wrap dreses are probably not the best option!

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 26/03/2008 20:16

I'm a traditional pear shape, normally a size 12. So thought dress would fit well but it doesn't hang right.

The Picchu website is gorgeous!

Why not take back the IO dress and buy the cerise/red ruffle dress. Tis less than half price!!

Not sure if this is a recommendation or not but Davina MacCall and Myleene Klass bought their maternity wear there.
