ISO talc or body powder

Has anyone noticed that talc/baby powder is increasingly hard to find in the shops? I understand that there were concerns that it could be carcinogenic and Johnsons have discontinued a number of products because of this, but I found it really useful for preventing sweat/heat rash. I've been trying to find a talc-free body powder, but apart from the Lush ones, which are tiny and pricy, have had no luck. M&S used to do a lovely rose scented one but that's disappeared. Help me, wise women of S&B!

I use Medipure off Amazon

It's cornstarch, no Talc. I wouldn't say it smells lovely, but the places it's going don't particularly smell like a Summers Garden.. shall we say.. 🤪

I use the same one as @MobileStationery but I get it for 99p in savers or home bargains.

Edited

I didn't know they sold it there. I've been buying it for around £6 for 3 bottles. Now I feel conned. 😱

Well at least now you can save a few pennies. I looked on amazon at it during lockdown @MobileStationery I was lucky I always stock up when i'm in town so I didn't need to buy it until the shops were open again.

Did not like medipure. Could not close it, went everywhere.

I wonder if Superdrug still do their family talc? Other chemists normally do baby talc or cuticura. I got some lovely Yardley ones (jasmine, sandal wood) from Amazon.

GettingStuffed · 12/03/2024 19:22

I use cuticura mildly medicated for boob rash

Cuppachuchu · 12/03/2024 19:26

I use vagisil talc free powder, £4 from amazon. Or Femfresh.

And

First one is rose and the second one is Lily of the valley.

It's lovely and fine and I even use the rose one as a face powder.

Lovely fragrances.

DrJoanAllenby · 12/03/2024 19:33

There's other Yardley fragrances as well as those two.

Me too!

I just suck up the lovely baby scents and use anyway! Burts bees and neals yard do talc free powders as a treat buy. The Lush one was indeed a lovely scent but eye watering so I have one for my work overnight bag as it’s a handy size. I think it was ‘silky underwear’ or similar?

i also use medipure and cuticura. And snake powder (must check the latter on the talc content).

@DrJoanAllenby those you’ve linked are talc based and the OP was looking for talc free. Such as shame as I’d love to find a rose scented one. Yardley did a lovely one but also sadly not talc free.

Surroundedbyfools · 12/03/2024 19:43

I think they are trying to phase talc out. I bloody love talc. Johnson’s seem to be using cornstarch instead now. Which I hate. Savers near me seem to still be selling normal baby talc tho and Morrisons do their own one but who knows for how long !

MotherWol · 12/03/2024 19:47

@Mykittensmittens Neals Yard don’t have theirs on the website any more - they were cornstarch based but they seem to have disappeared. The Lush ones are lovely but £11 for 60g!

@DrJoanAllenby ooh that Yardley one could be a goer, will investigate!

I use this. It's talc free and good value. Smells nice and has the same consistency as talc.

DrJoanAllenby · 12/03/2024 19:55

Sorry I read it that you wanted talc not talc free! Sorry!

These are talc free and scented

The yardley one is talc based

Pleasestopshitting · 12/03/2024 19:57

I started using femfresh talc as is smells amazing, is talc free, so safe and a good big bottle size as well

i can get the Neals Yard one in Waitrose if that help you? Do you have a local one? Maybe Ocado.

Luxecalmeetvolupte · 12/03/2024 20:04

Asda Little Angels baby range liquid talc is brilliant and doesn't actually smell of babies. Or contain actual talc as far as I can tell. Goes on like a lotion, dries dry!

MrsKarlUrban · 12/03/2024 20:09

I got a boots baby cornstarch one but it's showing not available now 🤔
The lush one is lovely but v expensive for little bottle
I believe any cornstarch or maize ones are fine

Evenstar · 12/03/2024 20:13

I got a violet scented Yardley talc at T K Maxx, they had other fragrances too.

Quinque · 13/03/2024 10:46

M&S do a floral collection talc trio, 3 small shakers for £6. I use them after swimming so the little pots are ideal to put in my bag.

Deathraystare · 18/03/2024 17:55

DrJoanAllenby ·

Yes I have a number!

MotherWol · 19/03/2024 13:07

Thanks all, I found the Johnson & Johnson cornstarch one in Tesco in the end, according to the woman restocking them they'd had supply chain issues which might be why it had been out of stock for ages!
