Being comfortable in jeans and a button through blouse/shirt

You know how some posh women just wear jeans, shirt and sunglasses on casual days and look relaxed and impeccable? Are they really comfortable? Is thisbbecause clothes are more comfortable when you are slimmer? Or is it having high quality clothes?

If I wore the same the jeans would annoy me after a fee hours snd the shirt would be bulky and irritating needing tucking in when sitting and standing etc

I can’t do it either. I look at Meghan Markle in jeans, white shirt and trench coat looking all glossy and cool, and I know I’d be a sweaty mess in a creased shirt with makeup on the neck, dog poo bags in my pocket, blisters from wearing my Tod’s loafers without socks and my jeans would either be cutting off my circulation or falling down.

LunaNorth · 11/03/2024 18:28

Oh, and my gut would look fat as well 👌🏻

Loopytiles · 11/03/2024 18:29

Think it’s to do with weight, or if heavier being happy to wear a size that isn’t tightly fitted around middle!

MsFaversham · 11/03/2024 18:29

I love a shirt and jeans. I often wear one with linen trousers in the summer or over a dress as I have to keep my arms out of the sun because of skin cancer.

MsFaversham · 11/03/2024 18:30

Just go for an oversized one.

I wear jeans and a shirt quite often, or denim skirt and shirt. I'm pretty scruffy-lookin' and not at all posh though. I prefer high-waisted denim as it's more comfortable. Yes, I have to re-tuck the shirt a lot, but so does Meghan Markle.

I don't tend to look good in shirts. I think it's because I have a short neck and short body

Being slim is the key. I lost weight a few years ago (fat again now) & looked / felt great in jeans & a shirt. A pair of trainers or ballet flats. Simple. Comfortable. Now my skinny jeans (the irony!) are digging into my waist & I need to layer a jumper over my t-shirt to smooth out my belly. I’m not comfortable, at all.

I rarely look impeccable in a shirt, I think it’s because I have a large bust and so I feel I’m constantly rearranging my shirt to sit right, and having a large enough cotton shirt for my boobs means it’s never neat around the waist.
I like a viscose shirt with tailored trousers for work, the viscose ones are drapier and sit nicer for me. They don’t look as crisp as cotton though.

My usual daily outfit is jeans and a shirt. I’m a petite size 8 so I ensure I buy petite fit shirts wherever possible as I think the correct cut/size makes a real difference, I usually half tuck the shirt in, so just tucked in at the front and up wear a nice belt.

SallyWD · 11/03/2024 20:13

I'm comfortable dressed like that but I wear a loose fitting shorts that skims over any tummy rolls.

Shirts not shorts!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 11/03/2024 20:24

I’ve never been a shirt person - they all look completely crap on me, and I am not especially fat, size 10/12. Jeans and a white tee I can do!

Cheeesus · 11/03/2024 20:25

I need a floppy shirt to look good and the jeans need to be not mega high waisted, then I’d be ok.

FluffyFanny · 11/03/2024 20:53

I covet this look- but the shirt always looks creased after about 10 minutes!

I prefer a floral silky blouse instead as seems to look better for longer.

Pepsimaxedout · 11/03/2024 20:59

It's less about weight and more shape. I'm an hourglass shape and look shit in a shirt.

I don't like shirts. They remind me of high school. They need ironed and white ones stain easy. Whoever they decided are stylish is a twat as far as I'm concerned!

EternalSunshine01 · 11/03/2024 21:02

I don’t suit a shirt and can’t work out why although as pp said there, I am an hourglass type shape. Plus I don’t find them comfortable.

hexsnidgett · 11/03/2024 21:04

I wear jeans and shirts loads, I don't find it uncomfortable.

SomersetTart · 11/03/2024 21:05

I'm skinny and wear large dark framed specs.

Jeans and a shirt make me feel and look like Jarvis Cocker.

Lovely as Jarvis is, it's not a good look on a 59 year old woman.

Precipice · 11/03/2024 21:05

I find jeans and a shirt reasonably comfortable. However, jeans and a t-shirt are even more comfortable.

TheOGCCL · 11/03/2024 21:21

Jeans I have never found uncomfortable but you've got to be pretty dedicated to finding the right pair(s). I'm large busted so shirts can tug a bit and never quite look as elegant as I'd want but oversized works best and I do like the classic ness of it. No linen or something made to crease.

Roundaboot · 11/03/2024 21:26

I love jeans and a shirt and find it a very comfortable outfit despite being a size 14-16 and mostly wearing H&M or other high street. I don't carry weight on my belly though or wear skinny jeans so there's no digging in.
