I am 45 have medium brown hair and about 8% grey. I cover grey with a brown wow powder daily. I have never dyed hair in my life but feel I would like a semi permanent dye now I am getting increasing strands of grey. I am completely new to it. Where do I start? Is it best to go to hairdresser or dye at home? Should j just use root touch up as it's not whole head? Where do I start? Feeling overwhelmed when I stand in boots looking at all
The hair dyes! Thanks so much guys x

Have you tried plantur shampoo, the brown one which has henna in it. I was probably about 20% grey, not thinning but thought I best prep in case that became an issue.

My greys are gone. The colour is very natural. Very happy indeed.

Wow I've never heard of it. Thanks for the recommendation!

SuperDrug sell their own temporary colour conditioner. If you remember the "Toner" sachets, it's very similar. It comes in a small white bottle for about £3.
I obviously can't encourage you not to follow the instructions (but please do still do a patch test first) but I add it to dry hair, before shampooing, and leave for longer than the recommended time.

Another vote for the Superdrug stuff - it's called Colour Effects and it's £2.99 for a bottle that lasts me three uses. I use the honey blonde one once a week on my naturally blonde hair and it blends away the grey at my temples really naturally. I'm going to try @JamMakingWannaBe's method next time though - I'll report back!

I was signposted to the SuperDrug conditioner, and the "apply to dry hair" on MN!
I wonder if they've changed the instructions because I've just checked the (smallest writing in the world) bottle and it does suggest you can apply to dry hair. I'm sure it didn't used to.
