Help me find a less pricey white blouse

Inspired by the sleuthing on another thread. I cannot justify the cost of this Sezane blouse (I actually ordered it and the quality didn't justify the price). https://www.sezane.com/au/product/chlo-shirt/ecru#size-4

Bonus points for a Louise or Gaspard dupe. Again I actually didn't like the material of the Gaspard. Felt so itchy.

I have a dupe from La Redoute but in cotton.

MujeresLibres · 08/03/2024 09:10

There's this Boden one but it's in blue not ivory.

Just realised it's more expensive than the Sezanne..! Sorry OP :-)

MujeresLibres · 08/03/2024 09:23

& Other Stories have a couple that might fit the bill, but again, they're expensive.

They have some similar styles that are made of other fabrics that are cheaper.

motherofbees · 08/03/2024 09:26

I know it is expensive but I've got one and every time I wear it I get so many compliments

Women and men and even my dad said he liked it

I think the cost is in the detail and material the cuffs are gorgeous

I'd honestly keep it

Chocolateteabag · 08/03/2024 12:13

La Redoute in Cotton £42 - but they have 40% off at the moment

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 08/03/2024 13:03

Honestly OP unless you love the other shirts the Sezane one looks like an investment piece, I’m tempted by it but I don’t need a white silk shirt/blouse.

If you think about cost per wear if it’s worn a lot it’s actually quite reasonable.

ErnestCelendine · 08/03/2024 14:41

I love it too OP but am also put off by the care instructions!

There are cotton versions of it. Would that be better/easier for you?

I found the collar (on the cotton one) a bit stiff at first, but it soon became floppier with a few washes.

Urgenthelplease · 08/03/2024 19:46

Absolutely cotton would be fine, obviously the cost isn't obscene but I know it'll get destroyed with one wash. I've never bought la redoute. What's the brand like with sizing?

OP posts:
Tiddlywinkly · 08/03/2024 22:23

I find the cotton version tts. My dsis has bigger boobs and goes up a size.

Tiddlywinkly · 08/03/2024 22:26

Sorry, misread your question slightly. For each item, they have a guide on whether an item fits tts, or if you need to typically size up or down. I'm an 8 and usually an 8/S. A bit of trial and error at first.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 08/03/2024 23:02

La Redoute can be very good, and sometimes not. I find sizes on the generous side, just got a coat and decent ruffle blouse in 10, French labels say 38, I'd say they fit more like a 10-12.

H&M had a gem of a blouse last year in pale blue or white, lovely cotton and cheap as chips, might be worth checking out what's in stock now. H&M own & Other Stories but that's a shop where I find the prices really unjustified and stuff is often itchy.

Ruthietuthie · 09/03/2024 02:28

I have the Sezane blouse and get compliments every time I wear it. Just buy that one, really. It is worth it, I think, given the styling and the collar and cuff details.

Urgenthelplease · 09/03/2024 04:36

It's not so much that I don't think it's worth it but I do worry I'll ruin it. I have two young kids and despite my best efforts they get food on me constantly. Even if I put it on seconds before I walk out the door they'll somehow manage to smear Marmite on it.

OP posts:
Urgenthelplease · 09/03/2024 04:56

Also if I do order there's another few things I'd like to get but like I say I tried the Gaspard cardigan and the Mariniere but they were both massive and the cardigan weirdly thin.

I have the first of these and love it, always get compliments when I wear it.

DreadPirateRobots · 09/03/2024 11:09

I mean a silk shirt is gonna cost you. I think that's an appropriate price for a good quality silk shirt with lace detailing.

I have the Chlo in olive silk and in striped cotton and I love them both. It's a gorgeous flattering shirt. I'd say treat it like you would any silk. I am probably borderline 6/8 and take the 6 in it.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 09/03/2024 11:18

I’ve picked up silk blouses in charity shops including a Frame one and Whistles one. If you can get some time and have the inclination have a look.
