Vinted moan - seller not shipping order

I'm fairly new to Vinted so not sure if this is an on-going issue, but I've had 3 items in the past week I've paid for that the seller didn't ship. I get the money back so not out of pocket (although have a limited budget so don't buy other items in the meantime) but it's just really bloody annoying when you think you've purchased something, wait for it to arrive only to be told a week later the order is cancelled.

Was it the same seller? I had an issue with notifications at one point. Basically, I wasn’t getting an email to tell me that something had sold as Vinted had weirdly blocked my email.

lechatnoir · 07/03/2024 16:40

No just checked and all 3 different sellers & very different items (although all were sold surprisingly cheap so my guess is buyer's remorse)

Sometimes I'm just busy or away.
I relist and apologise though.

This is quite unusual I think. I've bought loads and never has this happened to me.
Persevere with it.. it's great once you get in the swing of it!
Hopefully that's a run of bad luck done now!

Always check when last the seller was online, this might give you a good indication as to how soon they will send the item. If they uploaded 2yrs ago and haven't been seen online for 7months, chances are they have no idea they've sold something.

GertrudeKerfuffle · 08/03/2024 13:41

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but are you checking seller reviews before buying? I don't buy from people with poor reviews and have avoided problems so far, except the time I hit 'buy' without checking and it turned out to be a person who had a habit of not posting stuff. I wouldn't have bought if I'd made sure to research first.

Bigdoglittlecat · 08/03/2024 14:04

I’ve had a really bad run on vinted recently too - started buying on there last summer and had loads of great bargains but in the last month I’ve had 6 things be cancelled by the seller or not posted - it’s really annoying! I know to check their feedback scores too now, they’re pretty accurate. It’s not that hard for people to just remove stuff if they don’t want to sell it anymore?!

AtomicBlondeRose · 08/03/2024 14:10

I’m waiting for something to be posted which I suspect will never get sent - annoying because the item had just had a price drop so I know for a fact the seller is active!

Or just that they can't be bothered to go out of their way for a small amount of money? Which is really poor form, but I can imagine happens quite a bit, particularly because vinted doesn't make it very obvious how to restrict the buyer's choice of delivery companies as a seller to make sure that it isn't really inconvenient to use their chosen one.

Agree.

I was new to Vinted when I posted a few baby clothes that DS never had a chance to a wear. A few sold and others didn't after being listed for weeks. I gave the unsold items to charity.

Months after that, I saw a notification that one item had sold. It was long gone so I had to cancel the order. I felt pretty bad as I didn't even see the notification right away (thought it was junk mail).

I didn't realise listing can stay up endlessly on Vinted.

Catsandcuddles · 08/03/2024 18:55

It sounds like you've have a run of bad luck. Always check the reviews before purchasing and also have a look at when was the item listed. If it was listed 6 months ago for example, I always message the seller first to check if the item is available still before I buy. At least you know they are an active seller if they reply .

But if they didn’t want to sell it so cheaply why did they list it for that amount?

Same reason as people overestimate the extent to which they can be bothered in any other area of life? But also, I think people overestimate how much and how quickly they'll sell on vinted, so envisage it as a short term effort whereas as pp have said it might be 7 months later, at which point the enthusiasm has waned somewhat. As I said, I think it's bad form, as it wastes other people's time, but I think it happens quite a lot.

Precipice · 13/03/2024 19:26

I'm having the first such experience. The shipping label was generated a few days ago, but it's now been a week since I placed the order and it hasn't been sent, so I'm presuming it's going to be my first cancelled order :( I did have the risk in mind when buying, since the seller hadn't been online since November, but I figured, hey, maybe they don't have anything they might want to buy or sell, but they'll get the email and ship it. I've done that before in the past, since I haven't bought that many items and I'm not constantly listing things or having them sold. The seller came online, generated the label, and appears to have stopped there in the process.

Catsandcuddles · 13/03/2024 19:52

They have up to 5 days to send it , it might be working days perhaps? They have generated the label so that's a good sign. I buy often, 2 things I always do is check recent reviews and if an item has been listed a while ago, I'll generally send a message asking if such item is still available. I'll then only go ahead and purchase if they respond to me.

EllaPaella · 14/03/2024 17:53

You need to check when the item was listed. It's my theory that if something has been for sale for several months the seller has probably forgotten all about it and may not even be checking the app anymore. I usually drop the seller a message before I buy if it's been listed for ages, if they don't reply they probably aren't going to send.

Precipice · 14/03/2024 21:30

They might not be checking Vinted, but they'll get an email. I'd think it odd to get a message like 'is this still available?' Yes, since it's listed.

Anyway, my seller dispatched, on what was probably the last day. Hope it's fine, since it had no measurements.
