Work trip to India - what to wear

I’ve got to spend a week in India with work in May, apparently temperatures will be 25-40 degrees. I’m peri menopausal, 5 foot 6 and size 18, so rubbish in the heat at the best of times. What do I wear? I was thinking linen but I’ll end up a crumpled mess. Work will be big air conditioned offices, but I’m guessing lots of places will still be v hot

Just wear loose natural fibers. Cotton, linen, silk. There aren't that many places in India that will regularly reach 40C in May, you're probably more likely to be in the high-20s to the mid-30s.

If you're mostly in air conditioned offices, wear a cotton or linen dress/shirt and trousers, cotton cardigan or a regular work jacket. By the time you leave for the day, temps will have cooled down. The worst of the heat will be 11-4pm probably.

I would go for linen trousers over dresses as the A/C can be harsh in some offices. The first time I went and wore a dress in the office I froze. Definitely take some kind of cardigan as well for in the office just in case.

Depending on where you are going be prepared for brutal humidity, also pollution can be bad in the cities - I’ve been in Delhi at that time of year before and there can be a kind of smog/haze some days.
