What makes you feel great everyday? £300

I'm extremely fortunate to have been given £300 through work, but i have to exchange it for a voucher rather than cash. The range of vouchers available is enormous and i can top up the money for something if £300 falls a little short.
I have recently turned 40 and feeling really frumpy and want to start taking better care of myself.
What item(s) would you buy that would make the biggest difference to your beauty or health routine? Or even something that just makes you feel great everyday.
I have recently bought an LED mask and love it (if i hadnt thats what i would have gone for). I also have an apple watch and an exercise bike. Again - health wise, thats just examples of two things that have changed my routines for the better.
Any recommendations or things you've got your eye on?

Perfume, lipstick and nail polish.

Really nice underwear or PJ's.

Organic veg box. £300 would give you four months at £25 a week (which wouldn’t buy an enormous amount but something).

Or - a wool duvet and pillows.

I suspect you’re probably already well provided for, @sorepaw1 - but good food and good sleep are the things I’d recommend first for anyone needing them. They both make a huge long term difference to one’s appearance.

My SIL swears by the Dyson hair dryer thingy. I love my Babyliss big hair (as I have curly hair and can get good results almost like a professional blow dry with it).

Good skincare especially a nice good quality moisturiser.

You probably already have these but ai have a chilly water bottle which keeps water on the go nice and cool and a chilly lidded mug for hot drinks.

I got a similar amount through a work voucher recently and bought a pair of small diamond studs. So many a piece of jewellery that you’ll wear everyday or a lovely bag or something similar?

sorepaw1 · 04/03/2024 22:01

Love all these ideas and now not only am i thinking about what to spend voucher on but have signed back up to riverford and got an order for huel greens on the go!
Earrings are a great shout actually, i had thought a silver chain (as i need one) but not very exciting so some small hoops would be great as well.
Pjs, perfume, cosmetics etc i agree make me feel fab and i probably spend too much on them already!

400 thread Egyptian cotton percale sheets from Dunelm and a Silentnight electric blanket.

Get your sleep sorted and it makes everything else better.

Well I was working from home today and rather than throwing on a hoody and joggers took some time to put together something a little more chic with a cashmere sweater and metallic high top trainers that I don’t wear often. The sun was out and I re-found some great sunglasses. I only went to the vets but I felt good!!! 😀. If I had some spare cash I’d like to have a stylist come and help me put together some new outfits from my wardrobe.

Jewellery. I fancy a dress/cocktail ring.

Also came on to say this. If you’re the right hair/skin type then it will absolutely change your life. My legs/underarms were endlessly stubbly even though I shaved every day and now they are hair free and I rarely ever need to shave. It makes me feel so much better about myself!

mdinbc · 04/03/2024 22:23

Good quality sunglasses!
walking/hiking shoes

pinkpale · 04/03/2024 22:23

My big cashmere scarf is my feel good luxury item. It travels the world with me. Great in cold weather, on a plane, as a blanket in a cold room etc.
Love it deeply.

Well done on Riverford - I’m always miserable if I have to miss a week.

Not so sure about Huel Green - this is from the NYT last year:

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/19/well/eat/green-superfood-powders.html?unlocked_article_code=1.aU0.q2a2.rdVlu7A7FrHj&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb

And I’m only in the early chapters of Ultra Processed People but suspect it won’t be advocating for powdered nutrition. (Would be a good use of a fraction of £300 if you haven’t already read it.)

New sunglasses would definitely be on my list.
