Size 10 too small size 12 too big?!

I've always been a size 10 but have put a small amount of weight on and now my jeans are very snug and uncomfortable, mainly around the belly area. Have tried losing weight to no avail so I went to go and get some size 12 jeans but they're too big! Too big on the bum and too big around the crutch. I even tried on the exact jeans I wear but size bigger and they don't fit, what am I supposed to do?

shop around in different shops

sizing is very shop specific

There's quite a gap between sizes unfortunately! Perhaps you could get the zip extender parts or put a small zip panel into your current jeans to make them more comfortable around that area?

shop around to find sizes where a 10 is more generous or a 12 is smaller made.
or eat more so the 12's fit you

An extender for your existing jeans?

Next do 9, 11 ,13 etc in some of their jeans online.

Or else it's a case of trying on until you find something that firs due to sizing being so inconsistent.

I find if I get a 14 petite it sometimes works where a 12 regular does not or vice versa

and sometimes you can be completely different sizes in things.....in the same shop!

Shops want a good slapping when it comes to picking a size and sticking with it!

Depending on your budget I get Levi’s as they do in between sizes and different leg lengths. I get them in the sale or on eBay as they’re pretty expensive but they’re the best fit I’ve found.

I suggest trying jeans with waist sizes rather than dress sizes. Levi's is an example so they have for example 28" (10) and 30" (12) but they also do 29" which is technically an 11, the in-between size.
