Elemis Bliss capsules , or other ideas for livening up dull skin

Hi

im 50s and my skin feels dull . It’s “ normal,” although would feel dry if I didn’t use moisturiser.

Was thinking of investing in the Bliss Capsules . Any good, worth it ?

At present I cleanse skin . Not favourite product . Have used Boots Balm , Cerave and few others. Moisturiser a Superdrug own or Boots own, but the cheaper ones not the No 7.

Been looking at the No 7 range . Pricier, but wondered if worth it .

any suggestions ?

Looking at No 7 and not sure which . Looks like either Future Renew , pure retinol or Derm solutions for dry skin .

I find the combination of the Elemis dynamic resurfacing pads a few times a week and then the skin bliss capsules makes my skin feel smoother, and more glowy

I use the bliss capsules a couple of times a year and they really do make a difference but expect a skin purge for the first week but it will clear afterwards and give you a glow. Are you exfoliating regularly? At least twice a week? A physical scrub or the dynamic resurfacing pads as mentioned above can really help too. Deep cleansing and moisturising masks can help too. I quite like using the superfood midnight facial overnight and it really helps give my skin deep nourishment and a glow.

Aren't they just facial oil capsules? I had some when they first came out iirc.

For brightening dull skin, you'd be better off with a decent vitamin C in the morning and an acid toner a couple of times a week for exfoliating.

My routine is;
Cleanse (exfoliate once a week)
Tone
Treatment like Serum (twice a week)
Moisturise (leave to soak in for at least 10mins)
Oil (especially at bedtime)

I am using various brands in a effort to use stuff up.

This time of year my skin is dreadful (dull/dry/sallow) but been doing this for a few weeks and my skin feels great, and der the eyes have improved

Try a mild acid peel once a week. I really like the REN glycolic.

And a retinol

You'll need to use sunscreen and slap on the the hyaluronjc and you will be plumpy plumpy in about 4-6 weeks.

I used to but got out of the habit . Need to start exfoliating. What would you recommend that’s not too harsh ?

what would be a deep cleanse ?

Forgive if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be better finding out which vitamins/minerals boost skin health and make sure those are in your diet ?

MoriaRoseForever · 04/03/2024 17:34

Thanks , am, investigating some of the suggestions .

I use skin + me for my retinol (tretinoin prescription by subscription) I alternate days with this

If you are starting this then go easy on the peels for at least the first 4 weeks.

As mentioned I use the REN glycolic peel once a week.

I use the Vichy hyaluronjc with La Roche Posay cicaplast over the top for high intensity hydration after the peel and the nights without tret.

I use shiseido face upf. Also keep biore aqua watery essence spf 50 in my bag and car.

goingdownfighting · 04/03/2024 18:03

Or go for a hydrafacial. That will give you a good kickstart.
