Growing hair - what to do in dreaded in-between stage?

I have been tying tights round my head which contains growing layers, but looks a bit ahem amateur. Anyone know where I can get nice hair accessories or any of you gone from short to long without looking like a hedge? My hair is straight and thick btw.

tights?

BeauLocks · 25/03/2008 16:22

Eh?

cocolepew · 25/03/2008 16:23

Lol at tights. Do you cut them or have the legs trailing down your back? Try Claires for scarves, hairbands etc. I've just got past this stage [smug]

I cut them up and knot them into a headband sort of thing. I use opaque coloured ones (without ladders where possible), but still - it's not a sophisticated look. I thought Claires Accessories was for tweeniies so have never gone in - will try it.

h&m and accessorize - and stop tying tights round your head unless you are auditions for a part in 'land girls go native'

BeauLocks · 26/03/2008 11:53

I'm probably just being really thick but I'm still confused! You wear tights to look like hair? Does it work or do people think you have tights in your hair?

MrsBadger · 26/03/2008 11:57

or accessorize

they call them 'bandos'

BeauLocks · 26/03/2008 11:59

Just buy some fab big hair shampoo and don't forget to swish.

LOL!

mitfordsisters · 26/03/2008 12:16

oh my god. who is she? what possesses her?

just to clear it up, the tights right - chop off leg, and foot so you have a flat stretchy tube, tie in knot and then wear to hold hair back like an alice band, or bando (thanks mrsbadger voice of reason as usual)

and beaulocks - I would do big hair but my head is also very big - it's just not working

Ah, I get it. I thought you were using tights to look like hair.

How about going for a soft and silky look instead of the big hair?
