Can you recommend a hair curling device?

I have a set of GDH straighteners that I sometimes use to curl my hair but I want to buy a device that 'sucks' a strand of hair, holds it I for a few seconds and, hey presto! Curly hair. Can anyone recommend a foolproof one, please?

DD has had the Babyliss Curl Secret for years which does just this - very easy to use and lovely curls from it

Apparently the Voduz Sceptre curler is the best thing on the block right now!

I am considering buying this. It's half price on amazon at the moment. Still quite spendy if it doesn't work out though.
