Gaping gap at back of jeans

I have an hourglass figure (with particularly thick thighs!) and find it really hard to find jeans that fit.

High rise looks awful on me so I go with mid rise and I prefer the bootleg shape but I always seem to end up with a big gap at the back. I tend to wear fitted tops and it shows when I sit down. Where am I going wrong?!

I've found M&S jeans don't have too much of a gap, they're the best I can find in my budget.

I have a similar issue, I've recently found that jeans with a 'curvy' or 'curve' fit work better as these have a smaller waist measurement and wider hip/thigh.

Those jeans in your photo are still pretty high rise. Try going lower

narniabusiness · 28/02/2024 08:05

I would get them altered. I’ve just done this and it cost me £30 which I admit was a bit pricey but it is so good to have a pair of jeans that fit.

These were actually sold as low rise! 🤦‍♀️

Thanks all, curvy fit and low rise sounds like a good plan!

I have the same problem and find that belts put holes in the front of all my tops. M&S Lily Jeans are good and £25, the "magic" ones are good too but more expensive. I think it's just a case of trying lots of pairs to fine what suits your shape - which isn't always the more expensive ones.

Barleypilaf · 28/02/2024 09:46

The issue is that your waist:hip ratio is greater than standard sizes. ‘Curvy’ or ‘hourglass’ have a waist proportionately a size smaller than hips. Hollister/Abercrombie and Asos have ranges.

RosyappleA · 28/02/2024 10:14

The only no -gapy jeans I have found are american brand Everlane. The curvy range is fabulous. All jeans have a huge gap with me no matter where I buy especially with the straight and wide-legged options they are practically straight from the waist to the hip!

Everlane deliver in about 10 days and returns are very easy.

These have stretch
These have no stretch

Another good brand is Good American in John Lewis. They have a straight pull-on pair where you get a smaller size and they will stretch to fit the hip area.

pokebowls · 28/02/2024 10:16

Do you have a um...flat arse?

If you have a round butt the jeans pull down more so you find high become mid and mid become low and low rise become crack revealing.

If you have a pancake butt you find high is ridiculous, mid sits high and low sits mid as there is nothing filling the seat if you can see what I mean.

Look for lower rise and see if it helps.

WhereAreWeNow · 28/02/2024 13:41

I've found Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister curve jeans good. I also find M&S mom jeans very good for a neat waist fit but they're high rise and obviously not boot cut so not what you're looking for.

StoneTheCrone · 28/02/2024 19:26

I cant seem to get beyond the 'bad gateway' when searching for Hollister uk. Anyone else?

Cheeesus · 28/02/2024 19:28

Think the whole site is down!

OP is there a reason you don’t want to wear a belt?

Mynewnameis · 28/02/2024 19:54

I wear m&s or tu high rise. GAP curvy also good. Or try levi 501s aswell.

GettingStuffed · 28/02/2024 20:59

I get this, but my Primark mom jeans don't gape.

scaredofff · 28/02/2024 21:07

It's not pretty but I got this magic gadget from Temu to fix the gaping back of my jeans and it works perfectly
As long as my top covers the belt line!

M&S magic jeans work for me

Next hypercurve were incredible and they discontinued them (yes I'm still mad)

mraladdinsir · 28/02/2024 22:02

Best I've found are River Island Low Rise straight jeans. Only £40 and are a fab fit on hourglass figures like us! Definitely size down in River Island as vanity sizing++
