What's the best hair dryer?

scaredofff · 25/02/2024 17:30

Mum mentioned when shopping yesterday that she has always wanted a decent hair dryer. It's her birthday in a few weeks so I would like to treat her

We both have only had basic dryers so I don't know what a good one is either

Can anyone help please?

Pricey but Dyson hands down…instalments in QVC if that helps x

GHD air. I spent no more than 5 mins with it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/02/2024 23:20

Parlux or GHD

Is the Dyson the circle one? What makes it worth the £200 more than others? It is really expensive but tbh she is worth it so I would consider it @Saturdayrabbit42

So it is actually good? You don't feel like youve just paid for the brand @AnnetteKurtan? My mum loves her GHD straighteners. That's one thing she'll never compromise on so I know she'd love to get the hairdryer to match

Dyson. Yes, it’s that good. A totally different type of technology than just blasting hot air at your hair.

It’s quiet and super light, also things your mum might appreciate.

Get the smoothing attachment, I rarely have to use my GHD after using the smoothing attachment, it’s a game changer,

I wouldn’t rate a GHD straighter AT ALL , they are awful these days, but I absolutely would stand by their hair dryer.

a Cloud 9 straightener would be good for her though, she’d see the difference.

A parlux hairdryer for me. The Dyson one made my hair crispy!

I thought all the fuss about the Dyson Airwrap was a whole load of nonsense, but after picking one up on offer refurbished off eBay I had to eat my words.

The dryer attachment dries my hair extremely quickly and you can flip it around so that it acts as a smoothing tool. There are also brush attachments so if I have a call and my hair is being a bit wild, I can go through it with the brush and it smoothes it out. Also have the barrel brush bit to give the front a bit of a flick if I'm feeling fancy.

As the airwrap does a decent job of drying my hair, I imagine the Dyson hairdryer would do it a lot better.

I would look at YouTube reviews to get an idea of its functions and whether it would be suitable for your mum. If she doesn't want anything overly fancy, then maybe a cheaper hairdryer with a nice lunch would be money better spent?

Dd just bought herself a shark one - has all the same toys and tools as the Dyson but is £200 cheaper.

Can I hijack this thread and ask are the hairdryers recommended good for your hair? I have a Babyliss Big Hair which works well but it really pulls at the hair. So watching this thread with interest.

Peaceloveandhappiness · 26/02/2024 08:22

Dyson hair dryer with the gentle flow attachment is great for my fine hair and sensitive scalp, plus it doesn't get too hot. If you buy at QVC you can have a proper trial and return if not for you.

ChilliPB · 26/02/2024 09:14

I have the Dyson hairdryer - got it a few months ago and very happy with it. It’s quick, light and less noisy than other dryers. Like @Lostsadandconfused the smoothing attachment is great, and leaves my hair smooth and shiny so I don’t need to use a straightener.

Garlicnaan · 26/02/2024 09:15

Another Dyson vote. Whenever I use another hairdryer I find them so annoying, noisy, overly hot and heavy!

I lost hair with the Babyliss but the Revlon one step has been great, must dry the hair roughly first then finish off with the Revlon.

Romantic partner? I thought he was gay!

CarrotOfPeace · 26/02/2024 21:39

The GHD Helios is good - and you can get your name put on it

Moier · 27/02/2024 09:52

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor
