So I’m early forties always had oily skin was spotty until around 10yrs ago. Thought other than oiliness skin was clear but now I have three raised flesh/white bumps below my cheek. I have googled and googled and looks like I have something called Sebaceous Hyperplasia. Which is hard to get rid off. I’ve ordered some niceamide. But has anyone else got this and could give me some advise it’s really affecting my self confidence.

I would definitely get booked in with a dermatologist op, if you can afford private it might only take one visit to solve, although I’m not familiar with the particular issue you describe, I had a different issue with mine and it just took the one visit and a perscription and it was sorted, I couldn’t believe it as the gp couldn’t help but was kind enough to refer me. I guess I hadn’t really thought into how useful seeing one would be as they treated a seperate issue I didn’t know I had at the same visit!

I'd try use Dermatica (or Skin & Me) for a few months and see if that helps - it should as retinoids are good for sebaceous hyperplasia.

Try using CeraVe face cleanser with a facial sponge every morning and evening.

I had the similar issue many years ago: white bumps on my neck and they even started spreading out on the cheeks. I had oily skin, it was horrible. I went to a GP, it was a cystic acne. I got a prescription retinol, which made my skin feel horrible, it was peeling and itching. After 6 months the results started to show, thank goodness, they never showed up again.

im using skin and me for acne and oily skin at the moment. It’s worked a treat. I had lots of hard bumps that turned into big angry hormonal spots but it’s all calmed down and I had seen a difference within the first month.

I have 2 similar lumps one beside my nose and another in my hairline. I've had them for years and the one beside my nose has almost gone. I'm using tret so that could be the issue or it may be of its own volition.

Thankyou for all your replies. I cant afford to go private unfortunately I am going to try and make an appt with the doctor and see if they can confirm what it actually is. Those of you using skin and me do you take a photo so they can tailor the treatments?

Yes. You upload photos. They'll usually recommend something quite quickly given most of the formulas are all rounders. It's worth a try as usually you can get a good deal on the first month.
Dermatica is another one.

Please look at La Roche Posay :)
It will help. X
