Salicylic acid is supposed to be good for blackheads.

I have found Cerave face wash with Salicylic acid good, especially since I've started using the Cerave retinoid serum along with it. I also use their day and night moisturisers and they are as good as any of the more expensive brands I've tried

ProfessorPeppy · 22/02/2024 19:22

I don’t think those are blackheads, they’re sebaceous filaments. I don’t think you can get rid of them, they’re just a normal skin variation. I hide mine with primer/CC cream.

WhereAreWeNow · 22/02/2024 19:29

Mine is the same. I'm afraid nothing works for me. The only thing that makes a temporary improvement is La Roche Posay effaclar clay mask.
People swear by acids (glycolic and salicylic), niacinamide and other miracle cures but none of them have worked for me.

I agree with other poster, these are sebaceous filaments. This is just your pores and is a normal skin texture.

Dermalogica do a Fizz mask which I use on my forehead as I get blackheads there, might be worth a go.

Looks quite sore!

DisforDarkChocolate · 22/02/2024 21:35

I love the Fizz Mask.

CirrusCumulus · 22/02/2024 22:45

As everyone says, sebaceous filaments NOT blackheads that need extraction. Best not to keep traumatising the skin with squeezing (however satisfying it feels). They are normal and natural and will return. Salicylic acid, but don't overdo it. This is just how some of us are built.

EcstaticMarmalade · 23/02/2024 03:35

Salicylic acid serum, like Garden of Wisdom or Pai, apply a small amount to affected area. Follow about ten minutes later with a clay mask for absorbency.

It’s important that the mask has a clay other than kaolin as it’s not a at any enough. Cattier Green Clay in a tube is good. Pink clay, green clay, benonite clays all good, or one with charcoal. Better if it’s one that hardens as it dries.

Do this once or twice a week and it keeps everything in good condition.

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 23/02/2024 05:28

if you’ve extracted the blackheads
retinol is the best with salicylic acid but don’t use at the same time

Fraaahnces · 23/02/2024 05:59

Firstly, stop picking them. You will make the pores worse and they will only refill. You can use the Kate Somerville Eradikate Cleanser once a day, and leave it on the affected areas for at least a minute. That will have the effect of dissolving the keratin and exfoliating at the same time. Over time you should see a big improvement. Ensure that your skin is then hydrated and comfortable with a non-comedogenic moisturiser and don’t forget sunscreen every single day. (Sun damage increases pore size over time.)

Josette77 · 23/02/2024 06:21

They are sebaceous filaments not blackheads.

You can empty the pores but they will fill back up again. It's just skin texture.
