Help me find the perfect wide leg trousers

I tried some great beige, high waisted, wide leg trousers in White Stuff today but they were too long.

Do you have recommendations to fit this brief? They should be smart enough for work (smart casual dress code), not too thick like denim, not too thin like linen, and most importantly not see through.

Any ideas?

No sorry but following with interest. I have slightly short legs but am on the hunt for pair for work myself

Washinglinewench29 · 19/02/2024 18:15

Marks and Spencers have some lovely wide leg trousers and in short leg x

Chemenger · 19/02/2024 18:17

Can’t you take the White Stuff ones up? Or take them to an alterations place and have them shortened. I have to take most trousers up - it’s only an issue if it affects the shape, which should’ve the case with wide legs.

MidnightPatrol · 19/02/2024 18:20

Seconded on the river island.

I have them in several colours and they wash really well.

Rosiiee · 19/02/2024 18:23

Oh my goodness! I bought black high waisted ones from M&S last week. I loved it so much I went and got every colour. There’s a pleat in them so they’re very smart looking but so comfy! Not see through but still light. They don’t wrinkle either. They also come in petite/regular/tall.

Oh I love these River Island trousers - I wish they did them in a proper strong pink as opposed to a pastel!

Abercrombie.

Bringtheweatherwithyou · 19/02/2024 19:54

Just go to an alterations place and get the White Stuff trousers taken up?

PepsiMaxLime · 19/02/2024 20:04

Yes, Abercrombie. Pricey but I think you get £10 off if you sign up or they often have 25% off. Plus they come in short & curve if you’ve a small waist and wider hips.

ChompingCabbage · 19/02/2024 20:34

Hollister they've got some lovely wide leg trousers in a high or low rise and they come in different lengths and colours too.

laclochette · 19/02/2024 20:38

I love these from H&M Premium

SoreThroatHell · 19/02/2024 20:42

I did think about getting them taken up but they're already 90 pounds so an extra 25 pounds or so to alter then would make it really pricey. I could get 4 pairs somewhere else for that price.

Thank you for the recommendations and links. I'm starting to wonder if what I tried was wide leg as they were a bit different to the ones suggested. They were actually quite tight around the bottom area and only wide starting mid thigh and almost flared to the bottom.

I worry these fully wide leg ones would drown me. Maybe I just need to try more on

Uniqlo! Comfy and smart, neutral colours and not too long.

soupfiend · 19/02/2024 20:54

Trousers are never the same once they've been taken up and the money it costs too

Badgerstriper · 19/02/2024 21:09

Omne have some great trousers. They’ve still got a sale on some of them too.

Cwtshcwtsh · 19/02/2024 21:47

I’ve just bought a new (post baby) work wardrobe and have accepted that I’m going to have to have most of it altered to fit, including wide leg trousers. Following as I want some
more too but you might find alterations are the way to a perfect pair.

MyPearlsMyPearls · 19/02/2024 23:04

OP - have you ever used Wundaweb hem tape before? It’s about two quid per roll and you can easily hem at home!!

tiutinkerbell · 20/02/2024 06:00

Abercrombie have fab ones.

SoreThroatHell · 20/02/2024 07:49

Thank you! I have just ordered 3 to try from abercrombie, the "tailored fit" ones are just what I was after!

How tall are you OP and what is your inside leg measurement in inches please? Just wondered if the trousers you tried on might work for someone taller such as myself? Thanks

There's a really good site my friend introduced me to actually called NewIn.Style that might help with this. It basically loads all the nicest new stuff from high street stores. Might be worth a go to search for wide leg trousers? Quite a few pop up for me. It's all sorted by budget and style etc too so makes searching and shopping really easy.
