What shall I do with my hair (pics)

I've cropped the photo a bit too short but the hair is the e length you can see and sits just on my shoulders. It's faded natural red with blonde highlights. Super fine but a fair bit of it. It gets greasy quickly and is very thin around my forehead and side of my hairline Thank you to peri menopause for that nice added extra. It goes limp very quickly but is quite easy to blow dry. I have sticky out ears so don't want to go short. It's so so boring. I've just dried it so it doesn't look too bad here but I'm plumper than I'd like to be and trying to lose weight, feel crap about myself, so have booked a haircut at a fancy salon as a treat. I only know that I do not want a graduated bob as it doesn't suit me. Help me you wonderful nest of vipers please

Curtain or bottleneck bangs?

Fraaahnces · 13/02/2024 04:30

My fine blonde hair did the same greasy roots thing in peri. This is what my hairdresser taught me to do. I would use Nizoral or Selsun Gold (both stink, sorry!) once a week to treat the scalp. (You need to leave it sitting on your scalp for a couple of minutes before washing it off.) Also stop getting highlights right to the scalp as you will find it seems okay until the highlights grow out and then it gets greasy again. When you wash your hair, don’t let it air dry. Spray with a leave in conditioner and then a heat protectant. Dry it straight away and then even though your hair is nice and clean, use a dry shampoo straight away in the roots. Let it sit on the scalp for a couple of minutes and then brush it through. Do this once a day until next wash. *Dry shampoo is no good once your hair is already greasy. It clings to the grease and looks dirty and stringy. If you put it on BEFORE it’s all greasy, it soaks up the oil as it comes through.

@Fraaahnces thanks for this. Really useful and I hadn't thought about dry shampoo like this. Must go put some on now as o washed it last night but it will start to turn later today !

Honestly? Your hair looks lovely.

MikeRafone · 13/02/2024 07:22

I’d go for short hair

easy to wash daily in shower
you hair blow dries easy so easy 5 minute styling

your hair gets greasy so washing daily will illuminate that

its difficult to see your face shape

I've had it shorter will see if if I can find pic but my jawline isn't as "stable" these days 🤣

The shorter the hair, the more volume it will have. It's the weight of long hair that pulls it down and makes it flat/limp. If you don't want an overall short cut, then get layers cut into it.

I personally wouldn't be using dry shampoo every day. It clogs up my scalp, really irritates it and I find that it makes my hair even more greasy in response! But do agree with using it the night before rather than that day.

TheMainCharacter · 13/02/2024 07:36

I’m rubbish at hair but you have great cheekbones and jawline so something that accentuates those would be good. Maybe something a little bit shorter with some shaping around the face? Sorry that’s probably not much help!

Rustygirl · 13/02/2024 09:43

Short hair for comparison but I felt o needed a lot of make up and looked older. Despite being younger here (6years)

How do I select more photos from my phone?

OP posts:
FranklyFurious · 13/02/2024 20:55

Id keep the length, go darker and get a bottle neck fringe.
As it currently is I would try volumising mousse, some curls or waves and off centre parting.

Rustygirl · 14/02/2024 08:32

I can't figure out the photos thing at all. Just have a few I can choose from and do t know how to get to "select more photos " in the app. I've had it bright red, darker copper, short, chin length. All sorts. Fill fringe looks ridiculous when I look back I checked all my pics yesterday and blimey there are some shockers !

It must refresh once a day. Just been able to add short and darker

Looks really good

Rustygirl · 14/02/2024 09:01

My jawline was better then though. Not sure I can carry it off now it's interesting looking back at styles though. Am I brave enough to chop again?

Some layers starting at your chin at the front? I think your hair looks much nicer now than the short bob-it suits your face shape better. I’d look at French women’s hair cuts-loads of them seem to have fine hair which looks a bit greasy and dishevelled but still look great-look at Corine Roitfeld for example.
