At home IPL hair removal divices

Has anyone tried one of those IPL hair removal devices to use at home? I've been considering laser hair removal for ages, but I don't really have the time of money to do it.

These IPL devices look great, but do they work? They really vary in price, so would be interesting to see what brands work and what don't.

I know they're expensive to buy (range from £100 a £600), but that would be a hefty saving if I had laser instead.

Bit of an embarrassing typo in my title. Oops.

Philips Lumea worked brilliantly for me.
Bought it to use on my face as I had dark hairs on my upper lip & chin. Pretty much hair free now.
I also used it on my legs. I just top up every couple of months but don't shave. Arm pit hairs are slightly more stubborn but almost gone.

Second the Philips lumea recommendation. Only issue I'm aware of is that it doesn't work if you have very fair hair or red hair.
