Adjusting the Waist of a Loose Trouser.

I recently bought a pair of trousers online, but unfortunately, they're slightly loose around my waist, by about 1 inch. I really love the trousers—the length and fit are perfect, except for the waist. Unfortunately, a smaller waist size is not available, and I don't want to return them. Is there a way I can tighten the waist? Are there any tried and tested trouser tighteners? I'm not skilled in sewing or alterations, so that's out of the question for me.
Thanks in Advance

Put a dart in the centre back or elasticate the waist

just take them to your local alterations place (usually a dry cleaner) and they will get you to try on the trousers and pin them where they need adjusting. Had this done recently and it was I think about ÂŁ20 but worth it if you love the trousers.

Eat lots of cake.

I managed to tighten a pair of DD's trousers for her bu inserting elastic into the waistband at the back but this was only possible because of how they were constructed and because I can sew. Before this she used some sort of "half belt" which clipped round the belt loops.
