What to wear for a 50th?

I have a few 50th birthdays to go to this year, and am in a bit of a dilemma about what to wear. I live in the sticks but my friends are all in/around London and very stylish (in a dressed-really-well kind of way rather than fashionista), so the jeans/jumper combo I’d wear to go out round here won’t cut it for these parties.

I’m 5’2.5, size 6ish, very short torso, not massive but have definite boobs/hips/bum and longer legs (jumpsuits don’t work for my proportions). Please can you stylish ladies help with suggestions for something that might be suitable? Not on a particularly strict budget as I will get use out of the outfit, but not crazy designer prices. I have lovely bags/shoes etc. I do like to feel that I’m on trend, but prefer to feel stylish/elegant rather than high fashion! Thank you for any suggestions 🙂

What sort of thing are you looking for? Dress? Separates? Evening wear or day wear? Do you like bold outfits or something more reigned in? (I’m not sure I’m the person to help but I’m giving this a helpful bump 😉)

Ah thanks so much for replying! I’m honestly not sure. Happy to do dress or separates - I’ve decided that wide leg trousers are a trend that isn’t for me, but otherwise quite open to ideas and inspiration! I want to look like I’ve made an effort but not tried too hard. It’s a party so I can go a bit more glam than daywear, but I don’t want to do full on glitz or anything like that! Last time I saw her my friend had a fabulous black tailored jumpsuit on which looked amazing, so that kind of vibe I guess (but not a jumpsuit as they really don’t do me any favours 🤣). Quite open to colours (I reckon I’m a ‘summer’ but not too wedded to it) and tend to avoid frills/flounces. Would really appreciate any suggestions!
