WANT A shirt dress to wear in the summer, but where from? and what to wear it with?

i love my boden winter one. makes me look instantly glam. i wear it with tights and boots.
i want something similarish for summer. ie something that doesnt expose vast amounts fo flesh, and gives the same glam look for me. i am 35, and not glamour puss. the summer version at boden i do not like.
any suggestions on where i can get something like this? please?

this one?

or GAP have one that is cheaper. it was v.v. nice, but at 5'9 it sat a wee bit too short on me - about 1.5inches above the knee. fine for those with fat knees tho .

bozza · 21/03/2008 15:08

I don't really do Boden so I don't know what they are like. But I got one from H&M last summer that suits me and I will be the same age as you next week. It is a sandy or maybe caramel colour linen and this one is actually collarless (sort of grandad collar) and about knee length and shaped. It cost me £5. I would say though that it is the sort of thing H&M might have.

I wore it with flipflops or wedge sandals. Usual summer footwear answer.

bozza · 21/03/2008 15:09

Mine not so glam as perkins I have to say. But dressupable with wedges and a bit of jewellry.

soapbox · 21/03/2008 15:10

I think the new Banana Republic store in London has some nice ones.

pukka · 21/03/2008 15:14

o wow, perkin, that is so glam looking. i want it a bit cheaper though. gap dont do online do they?

yeah, I had to leave it in the shop due ££ too .

PerkinWarbeck · 21/03/2008 15:23

didn't see this in the shops, but looks quite nice here.

PerkinWarbeck · 21/03/2008 15:23

poplin one.

JackieBollyKnickers · 21/03/2008 15:23

Laura Ashley?

JackieBollyKnickers · 21/03/2008 15:24

(Also comes in blue)

pukka · 21/03/2008 15:25

i like the tea dresses there. but am wary of them. what if they make me look 75 instead of young and trendy

A whole section at Debenhams.

pukka · 21/03/2008 15:26

debenhams and i are not getting on at the moment
i forgot my password, and aftet three or four incorrect attempts, they ahve locked me out. wont let me open a new account, and wont tell me my password either.
so either i make a new email account just for them, or i stay away from debenhams

This one's quite nice too.
Khaki
stripey
I like this one a lot - a bit military looking
This too (safari).
A bit softer but not sure about the neckline.

JackieBollyKnickers · 21/03/2008 15:32

Looks a bit odd - you'd have to see it on.

pukka · 21/03/2008 15:36

wow, jackie, i have seen you on style before, and you are simply fab! are you by any chance in the fachion industry? or is it just a side passion?
i love all those dresses. agree about the last one. i dont like the neck line. how do i choose between them? the price range is just about right too.

JackieBollyKnickers · 21/03/2008 15:37

Bit glam

JackieBollyKnickers · 21/03/2008 15:38

No - not in the fashion industry - just good at doing links.

Maybe a trip to Oasis is in order, to try them all on...

pukka · 21/03/2008 15:45

the asos one is out of stock.
no nearby oasis, and shopping iwthout kids is a bit of a pipedream. even now, i am at homeon my own only because of major neck pain. i'm supposed to be resting, not excersing credit cards.

Hope one of them works.

webchick · 21/03/2008 17:29

I have this one which is surprisingly nice in real life (don't normally do M&S):

www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B001330LVG/sr=1-6/qid=1206120353/ref=sr_1_6/026-4069973-9826826?i e=UTF8&node=&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=&mnSBrand=core&size=60&rh=n%3A72625031%2Cp%5F90%3AGBP25-GBP29 .99&page=1

As for the OASIS ones, it is similar to Jackie's military ones but £20 cheaper, and I have the last one which you werent sure about the neckline - it is lovely on, I wore it to a birthday party and loads of people complemented me on it more for the colour I think but it is v stylish. Might not be so summery because of the fabric though.

pukka · 21/03/2008 18:56

[dufus emoticon] dont know why i didnt think of m&s. i buy enogh from there. and they very good with quidco cashback too.
