Lanx vs DM Chelsea boots

I need some new Chelsea style boots and after years of buying low/mid price boots I'm wondering if it's worth splashing out on either Lanx or DM ones in the hope they last longer. What are peoples experiences with them before I blow the budget on a pair? Also how do they fit? I've got size 4 feet but they're pretty wide, I think that's caused previous boots to stretch out of shape and split so I really want to avoid that if I spend £150+ on a pair. Does either make come up wide? Thanks!

Im a 9 and wide and Lanx were great size wise! I wore them in after a couple of weeks ( i have sensitive giant feet😂) and i walk miles and miles every day with my dog in them

The Solovair Dealer Boots are better quality than DMs. I love mine. The fit is unisex so slightly wider than women's boots. Read the sizing guide on their site.
I got mine 'pre-loved' but they looked new. I wear them a lot and they still look new(ish)

I've got wide feet and have got Lanx boots. They're fantastic, they do need wearing in a bit but the quality is great, much better than DMs. They're very comfy and I can walk all day in them.

I've not tried Lanx boots but prefer their lace up styles and would consider getting the Dinckley ones

YY to Solovair.
They are the "original" dm manufacturers, after dm moved production to China.(
I've had mine (8 hole Derby boots) for 14 months and they just get better with age.
I'm also a broad 8.5-9. The 8.5s fit really with my orthotics in (plantar fasciitis).

Thanks everyone, sounds like Lanx or Solvair are worth a punt. I'm very excited to discover I'm near enough to the Lanx warehouse in Whalley to go and check them out in real life. Thats my weekend sorted!

Is that as in Whalley Bridge?

I heard a great tip yesterday, shove a can of coke (other brands are available) down inside at night to stretch them out a bit. Definitely going to try it myself

CostaDelOrchard · 01/02/2024 09:11

Otherwise, buy child’s size DM Chelsea boots and they come with zips

Igneococcus · 01/02/2024 09:22

I have the Lanx Dinckley in black and love them. Might treat myself to the oxblood version for my birthday next week. If you sign up to their mailing list, you'll get discounts quite often.

I’m going to throw a curve ball and suggest Birkenstock Chelsea boots. I have the Bryson laced boots and am seriously considering Chelsea’s. I found lanx quite firm.

Dogman · 01/02/2024 09:28

And thanks to this thread I’ve just ordered the Highwood Chelsea boot.

RB05 · 01/02/2024 09:29

I have the DM Chelsea boots that are fur lined and I live in them. Super comfy and didnt take much wearing in.

I've got the Dinkleys in conker, bought them a couple of weeks ago - they're great. Get better as you wear them in and give me a bit of a boost height-wise, which is always welcome!😁
OP I've got DM chelsea boots as well, which area much wider fit than my Lanx boots. They're old but still going. For foot cushioning I'd vote for the Lanx, such bouncy footbed and really good quality leather. I don't regret shelling out for them, reckon they'll last forever.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads its Whalley in the ribble valley, BB7 postcode. Theres a shop in the northern quarter as well but I think the Whalley one has a bigger range of stock in.

That's not too far. It could be an afternoon out! It would crossing to the dark side of the hills though!

I got Dinkley boots in black patent and lovely fit on my wide feet. We live close to Whalley and DH who picked them up said their shop is amazing..also noticed that last summer they had a sample sale, so may be worth watching if they do the same again. Also offer we had was for every £10 spent, they give you £1 back to spend on next purchase.😀

KirstenBlest · 01/02/2024 11:27

@nothernexposure , there's an outlet on the Solovair web site. I don't recommend the vegan shoes. You might be able to get the chelsea boots from an auction site.

nothernexposure · 01/02/2024 13:25

@KirstenBlest thanks, I'll have a look at the outlet stuff. TBH I usually avoid plastic/vegan shoes and boots because of the whole wide foot thing. At least leather stretches a bit whereas the vegan stuff is really tight and uncomfortable. And then splits!

@Dogman glad to have led someone astray.....

@nothernexposure , I had an old pair of non-leather shoes from there and they were ok but recently I bought a pair of leather shoes off ebay and they were vegan shoes and plasticky. I returned them as they definitely were not leather but the buyer relisted them as leather.

The Solovair factory seconds on their site are usually great, but you'll be lucky to get a pair.

Wish I hadn't mentioned the Dinckleys. Smile
