Endless salon appointments for hair colouring

My hair grows like grass. I am absolutely sick of going to the salon to get the roots done and its so expensive, I tried balyage but didn't really like it.
I've been dying it for 45 years and I'm sick of it. The bleach has ruined it really but the regrowth is really silky and smooth.
I'm growing it all out and seeing what I'm left with, I can't even remember what my original hair colour is. It was blond when I was a kid.
Looks like its dark blond with white either side of my face but nowhere else.
Is there anything you can do with the white hair to make it look more exciting?
Any temporary colour won't take on the rest of the hair.
Its waist length.
I just want to be able to grow old naturally. I'm so tired off the constant upkeep. Anyone else? Have I given up on life?

I’ve been using the John Frieda Go Blonder shampoo, which lightens hair very gradually over time, and because you’re supposed to use it regularly you don’t get roots or re growth.
I like the results. It gives a subtle lift. Highlights look better, but I don’t have the time or money for those any more, and this is the next best thing I’ve found.
I don’t think you’ve given up on life! We just have different priorities now :)
