Help me dress DH for a Wedding!

We are going to a wedding next week of a close friend of mine. My DH casually mentioned he'd need to wash his 'smart jeans' this week ready for the wedding. Cue me looking slightly confused and pointing out this was a VERY posh do at a VERY posh castle and jeans and a shirt probably wouldn't cut it. Turns out he doesn't have a suit.

He works in an office that has gone casual since covid so probably won't need to wear one and doesn't really want to buy one for the odd occasion which I totally get

But he has been eyeing up blazers and is a bit clueless (as am I!!)

He's got some standard grey smart/casual trousers. Is there anyway of putting a combo of waistcoat/blazer together that might look quite funky?

I'm struggling to find anything other than a bog standard blue suit online and I'd like to try and help him find a mix and match style that still looks good but can be deconstructed

Any help would be super appreciated!

I should also add that his 'smart jeans' are a very faded green tinged pair of fossil jeans that are well worn so I absolutely wouldn't count them as 'smart'

He needs to hire something. A suit if the wedding will be very, or even slightly, traditional / formal.

(I generally disapprove of women dressing their menfolk - but how did you not know he didn’t have a suit? Grin)

Either hire or go to M n S.

@TheOriginalFrench I should rephrase: He DOES have a suit - and it fit him pre lockdown but now won't do up 😄

I agree about dressing men and i wouldn't put it upon him but he has come to me asking for some help and I'm equally clueless so thought I'd through it out there to see if anyone was more of a fashionista than me!

The wedding isn't so formal that he needs tops and tails or anything and I think a smart blazer/waistcoat/trouser combo will be fine - I just can't seem to put any together

@Rocknrollstar M&S sadly light on anything that isn't a traditional suit and most of them are slimline which don't really suit him

Do you have a Slaters close by. You get every suit/blazer/waistcoat combination under the sun in there

I don't think your DH needs a suit to look smart, I know some who regularly will attend wedding in trousers with a shirt, tie, and blazer, all complimentary but not matching and he looks great and very smart. Like in the picture - black trousers with a camel blazer, or beige trousers with a navy blazer, or navy trouser with an off white blazer. But these can be a little more tricky to get right, whereas as a suit doesn't require an 'eye' for pairing items.

Next sell good separate suit elements at very competitive prices.
