I've bought an IPL hair removal device from Amazon, cheap cheap.

Currently selling for 90 quid but after 2 codes/vouchers was only 29 quid. Which almost makes me more nervous.

It may zap my skin clear off. Who knows. But at a saving of 400 quid vs braun I'm willing to try.

Reviews seem good.

Say a little prayer for me 😐

I bought one of those, not exact model. You have to use it religiously. My legs are less hairy and growth had slowed massively, but I'm not consistent,

I hope you get good results!

Zaapp · 27/01/2024 14:10

Yes I had the braun years and years ago and didn't use it enough, hence me not wanting to pay that amount again.

If I don't bother then 30 quid isn't a massive loss but I think I will keep up with it.

Just done it on my legs, armpit, upper lip and bikini area.

Didn't hurt or anything.

Only thing I will say is that when I had the braun one I remember the smell of burning hair. Like the laser was burning it away. No smell at all with this one. Even when you put it over full grown hair. I'm sure that the braun used to make hairs sizzle away if you caught them in the cross fire

So that makes me think this may not be as effective?

I have a similar cheapy laser gadget. I realised that there are 5 settings to click through to get to the maximum, so maybe try pushing a few buttons in case that makes a difference!

PrincessPotato · 27/01/2024 22:50

I have a similar (if not the same) cheapie and I think from reading reviews, the full power on this is about the same as half power on the Braun. I’m trying to be consistent with mine so I can give a verdict in about a month

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 27/01/2024 22:54

Do these devices work on dark blonde/light brown hair ? I've heard different things and don't want to invest for nothing...

Could you zapp twice then if it's only half the power? 🤔

You need to make sure you shave first as the little bit of hair left in the follicle after shaving, is what makes IPL effective. If you wax/pluck/epilate or thread first, you're removing that

Yes I've read the instructions thanks.

Watching with interest. Was thinking of buying one of these.
Do keep us updated, OP.

Thank you @Zaapp ! Relevant username too 😂

I tried one of those and they didn't do much. Ended up forking out several hundred at Skin clinic for proper laser removal and its been 10 years and I only have to shave my legs once every week max (used to be daily). There were a good few years of no hairs at all but I think I need a top up.

NoOrdinaryMorning · 29/01/2024 08:12

@Zaapp No need for that attitude

Zaapp · 29/01/2024 08:16

What attitude, me??

Def get a top up. I had 7 x laser sessions 10 years ago and I haven't had to shave my legs since.

I think there's a slight difference already.

My regrowth is usually extremely itchy and almost immediate but it's seems not as bad.
