considering this and can’t decide whether I can make it work or not
I like to layer things as struggle with body temp but get fed up of mismatched sleeves which ride up or down eg I have a lovely dress with 3/4 sleeves which just doesn’t work as sleeves get pushed up and ruck up

It’s the kind of thing I’d expect to see on a group of pensioner day trippers getting off a coach. Sorry!

No thank you - I did wonder that myself
just need some kind of extra layer that is more stylish

It would depend on what else you wear it with. I think it would like stylish with wide leg jeans and the use of a leather belt to hold the sides together with a nice roll neck underneath.

If you struggle with body temperature try a sports merino base layer (sports because they are designed to be adaptable to both hot and cold). It needs to be 100% pure merino, lots of brands try and pass off cheaper mixes as merino these days, check the care label.

For me that one would be way too bulky. I have several shorter waistcoats and tanks both patterned (fair isle) and solid colour ones. I wear them with shirts and trousers or jeans. What about a shorter v-neck cardigan? Boxy, thin, thick, oversized, fitted, there are plenty to choose from. They work with t-shirts, shirts, long sleeve tops, with everything really.

I quite like it but in a sort of "me when I'm 70" way.

Lorrymum · 28/01/2024 18:20

I'm 67 and I wouldn't wear it!

CrushingOnRubies · 28/01/2024 18:24

I quite like that but in a get cold at work but a body warmer gilet is a bit too casual not what I want type way. I wear long sleeves but they get wet and get in the way a bit

That would work. It's not something I'd buy but if I owned it I'd pair it with a long, straight dress and flat laced boots.
