Dyson vs Parlux vs highstreet hairdryers

By highstreet I mean Babyliss, Remington etc that you can pick up easily in Boots and the like.

Can anyone comment on the quietness or noise relative to the others? I have a Babyliss and I'm wondering if Parlux would be noticeably quieter? Reviews seem mixed. Dyson certainly appears to have a reputation for being quiet.

My parlux is great. Not quiet though.

I have a parlux and daughter has just sold her dyson. She says my parlux dries her hair better than her dyson. She is now using Panasonic.
The parlux and Panasonic is louder than the dyson

Parlux are great hairdryers but are not cheap (unless compared with Dysons!) and i'd say the noise is normal for a standard hairdryer.
They seem to last quite reasonably, I've had mine for about eight years.

I love my parlux - did loads of research after having the same hairdryer (Remington) bought by my mum when I was 16 and only broke when I was 40 and I blow dry my hair daily. They last the longest apparently!

Parlux is great, dries my hair super quick and gets very hot on the high heat setting. The Dyson would dry it on a much cooler setting, I don't have the Dyson hairdryer but do have the airwrap which has a dryer attachment. I use the Parlux for speed if I need to wash and go.

It is superior to any other high street brand I have had over the years. My hairdresser only uses Parlux. It is definitely not a quiet hairdryer though.

Parlux hairdryers are great!!

Parlux by far. I have the airwrap but still default to the parlux I just prefer the finish

ChilliPB · 26/01/2024 21:26

I love the Dyson. It’s quiet and fast, even on a cool setting. I haven’t tried Parlux or other brands, friends have recommended the GDH one though.

I got a Parlux for Christmas to replace a Remington.

It is a totally different league of hairdryer. Fast, kind to the hair, loads of volume, loads of curl when I use the diffuser.

It's like I have better hair.

I have a Dyson and a Parlux 3200 compact and I do much prefer the Dyson. It’s far lighter (I always found the Parlux too heavy) and quite a lot quieter, although you can buy a ‘silencer’ for the Parlux. I also find the heat settings better on the Dyson – the hottest setting on my Parlux feels too hot but the one down isn’t hot enough.

I have the new Parlux and it’s quiet, beautiful colour and not as hot-but more airflow so dries quicker. If quiet is important, you can buy an extra little silencer which fits on. It’s the Alyon in midnight blue.
