Boob job in the UK - best surgeons?

Hi!

I'm looking at getting a breast augmentation now I've had my children.
I'm 100% about it, but have struggled to find anywhere online which really provides trustworthy advice as to which clinics/specific surgeons to go for.

Has anyone had this procedure and can recommend a clinic?
Would love to know roughly how much you paid and how long ago if possible!
Just really don't want to choose a cowboy - but would rather not pay the earth either!

Thanks!

If you are up North, Dr Netri is very highly regarded.

London or South East, have a look at Dr Dan Marsh, Linda Fiumara, Nora Nugent, Marc Pacifico.

Go direct to the surgeon rather than using chain clinics. Not sure on prices, I've just had implant replacement and lift, it was £11,000 or thereabouts. The above surgeons are probably on the higher price side as they are so highly regarded. Someone else maybe able to recommend someone cheaper.

London - Paul Harris. Depending on what you have done about 12k, specialist in reconstruction, ex BAAP president and really focussed on getting a natural look. Thoroughly recommend him. (Was in the Tatler guide for several years running not sure why he’s not in now as he is amazing).

Eek, I was hoping more for say.. £5k?
Do you think that might be impossible? Is closer to £10k the average?

I very much doubt you’ll find anyone reputable and in the UK to do this for £5000. Any surgeon quoting that sum would make me very nervous.

sausagedogpookie · 22/03/2024 01:19

I looked into this about ten years ago and the price then was £5K, from both a ‘chain’ type clinic and an individual surgeon who had been recommended to me and I had consultations with both, for comparison.
I decided not to proceed for other reasons at the time but would now expect to pay around double that old quote, for someone well-recommended.

I agree

Kezabella84 · 22/03/2024 02:08

I had mine done in 2015 and paid about £4500 - can’t remember exact price as I had my nose done at the same time and the total cost for both was £8000.

My surgeon was Dr Bernard Sleiter through the Harley Medical group. Not sure what he’d cost now though with inflation (ha - no pun intended 😆). Very pleased with the results.

Summerdew · 22/03/2024 05:54

I wouldn’t want to pay as little as £5k, it would make me nervous that I wouldn’t be looked after if something went wrong.

5K is what I paid 21 years ago! I think you might be able to find someone half decent for about 8k. If you are on Facebook there is a group called Uk only breast augmentation. Ask in there, posts take a while to be approved though.

Whereabouts in the UK are you? Prices seem to be cheaper up North

DivorcedAndDelighted · 22/03/2024 16:46

Price depends on whether you want a straightforward breast augmentation ie just implants, which is cheapest, or whether you also want/need a lift, which is more complicated. When I had straightforward submuscular implants, no lift, 3 years ago it cost about £6k at a high-end London surgeon, while cheaper London clinics were asking around £4k. Demand was suppressed at the time due to Covid so it might have gone up.
I have a different take on chain clinics. Specialist boob job clinics are usually set up by a group of plastic surgeons who specialise in breast augmentation, so the founders/partners are real specialists in their fields and have a strong incentive to only allow surgeons to practise within their clinic if they are confident in them; their own good name is at stake. In addition, the clinics sometimes offer additional protections or guarantees that you may not get elsewhere. Alternatively, you could look up some of the specialist clinics and take a note of their surgeons' names and then track them down directly. I recommend not going with a general private hospital or general plastic surgery clinic as they do not have the same peer selection system, as far as I know.
Most plastic surgeons who work on breasts will do both reconstruction and regular cosmetic work. Many work in the NHS and use their private practice to subsidise their NHS careers. It's often said that the NHS cases are the ones which give the challenge and the fulfilment, and the private cases pay the bills.

You've probably already done your homework, but just in case it's useful for anyone at an earlier stage - a breast surgeon will take careful measurements before recommending a size range of implants. The larger the implant, generally the higher the risk of having some issues with healing or the final cosmetic result. I was on Facebook support groups with lots of women from the USA who were all chorusing "Go bigger!", so was a bit disappointed when my surgeon gave a maximum size which was considerably smaller than apparently even tiny waifs in the USA were having, despite my average-sized frame. However, I then saw that my healing was far faster than all these ladies with massive knockers, and my end result was very natural, which was my priority. I absolutely love my boobs now :-) I just wanted them filled out again, to replace lost volume when I had my children. I didn't need them hoicked up under my chin or looking like Barbie boobs, just didn't want them empty and deflated. I know it wasn't necessary - it was something I did just for me, as a reward. I'd worked to get the rest of my body into a condition I was very happy with, but it seemed unfair that my boobs had just gone!

I think that’s unrealistic. I was 7.5K for a reduction and lift in 2019 in the north east.

Penguinsmum · 22/03/2024 18:31

I used Dr Dan marsh. Expensive. But worth it. And my boobs were a huge challenge for him! 😃

Penguinsmum · 22/03/2024 18:33

Mine cost in 2020 around £10k uplift implants and b lite implants. Had to have 2 revisions and both were free.

No way would you find one in the uk

howevevr. Please please please do not go abroad for cosmetic surgery.

don’t go to India or turkey.

Cerealkiller4U · 22/03/2024 18:39

My mate paid 5k some 18 years ago…that was Harley street

Newcrocs · 22/03/2024 18:40

I paid almost 10k for an uplift and then implants (2 separate surgeries) 20 years ago!

You're looking at at least 8k OP if you go to someone decent. I'd imagine my surgeon had retired by now so can't help in that regard but please don't compromise on quality because of cost.

Can I ask why? I wouldn’t have a boob job….on,y because I love my boobs, but my god I hate my nose

Poshjock · 22/03/2024 18:41

I used the Real Self site to research surgeons and found mine with Nuffield Group - he had brilliant reviews and lived up to these completely. I paid £6K 8 years ago

I had my breast reduction and nose done at the same time too back in 2008 and it was £9000, Simon Lee, Spire Health Bristol was my surgeon. had two children since and looking to get the same done again in a year or two, expecting cost to be double that now.

Penguinsmum · 22/03/2024 21:31

@cerealkiller I had implants 20 years ago. Then removed. Then got pregnant x 3. Eventually I had my son. Then lost 4.5 stone. So my poor old boobs had taken a battering! 😃 Very asymmetrical and low hanging! Double fold on one boob! Poor Dr Dan! But he did a decent job on me. Not perfect but sooo much better!
