Morning wedding- what to wear?

I need help choosing what to wear! I haven’t been to many weddings and feel a bit clueless, especially as this one is a bit different.

The ceremony is at 11am. It will be in a city, in July so it will be in the late 20s temperature wise. After is lunch and a party and it will be finishing around 6pm. There will be a lot of kids there, including my own.

The dress code is wear what you want, which is nice but unhelpful!

I would like to wear a nice dress, but not feel overdressed. I‘m late 30s, fair colouring, 5‘ 6“ and size 10.

Any suggestions?

Alemais - if you can afford it, or hire.

Otherwise just look for something by a Spanish or Australian brand - they really know how to do Summer clothes.

I would look for a nice tea dress. Is it mostly indoors or out? If indoors, you could do longer sleeves but a light material. I've no idea what your style is, but I like a flowy dress for a day time event.
This is dark green, but it is early in the year yet, and spring items are not all out yet in the shops. I would wait another month or so for more selection.

Batsheva dresses here.

But really, unless you’ve had your eye on something amazing in the sales it’s too early to look for a July dress. Give it a few weeks and see what all the new Summer collections have to offer.

Dresses

Shop Batsheva dresses. Unapologetically feminine, Victorian, and Prairie-inspired dresses with demure silhouettes, exaggerated frills, and exclusive prints. Shop best-selling styles like the Snap Housedress and Smock Dress.

(I don’t think the time of day presents any particular problem! All it means is that you won’t want an evening dress. Anything else would be fine.)

I'm sorry but this looks like funeral attire.

You're in your 30s, a slim size and it's summer.
Go for something that makes you comfortable but it you enjoy dressing up then go for something that makes you feel amazing, add some colour and some fun.

What's your budget OP?

I actually think @ProperDeep's suggestion is great. Lots is colour and plenty to choose from!

Have a similar event conundrum. Alemais stuff is absolutely gorgeous!! But also $$$... any ideas for similar at a lower price point? Would happily rent but not in UK and options for renting more limited. Love the colourful prints !!

The summer stuff isn’t out yet, but I have bought a few of these for summer weddings, and had a lot of use out of them after. Sounds like the wedding isn’t too formal, I’d go for a vibrant maxi or midi dress with flat sandals.

I was just about to link Farm Rio!

Ahna65 · 26/01/2024 10:24

Oo Farm Rio has some great stuff also in the sale! Is sizing 'normal'?

SM4713 · 26/01/2024 10:33

The only difference in it being a day time wedding for me, would be that I'd avoid sequins and glittery evening wear. Its still a wedding, so I'd err on the side of slightly more formal, not just 'wear what you want!' 😕
With your sizing, surely there are many dress/jumpsuit/skirt and top options to choose from? What is your body shape? What styles suit you best?

scoobysnaxx · 26/01/2024 11:15

Just find a nice summer dress or tea dress that you can dress up a bit, a pair of high sandals or wedges. Focus more on the accessories to dress it up
