Strathberry Mosaic Bag - opinions please

Does anyone have a Mosaic bag? Do you like it?

I'm looking for a crossbody bag which isn't too big and heavy but holds a realistic amount of things... so, keys, purse, lipstick, phone, plus odds and ends, etc.

I've always bought Mulberry bags but lately find them just so heavy - even empty they're blimmin heavy. I've already sold a few of my bags and sadly realise the rest will have to go too.

Any other recommendations for a medium sized crossbody bag would be welcome.

They're better than ones with logos plastered all 9ver them. They look quite sophisticated too. However I'm broken hearted that they aren't strawberry mosaic which I first read.

I bought my daughter one of these for Xmas, in the olive, it is gorgeous, and I didn’t feel it heavy, it’s not overly large so it really depends what else you want to shove in there. To be honest, when it arrived I was tempted to keep it for myself!

I have one and have worn it a few times. I have the bottle green. I think it's a dupe for a Loewe Puzzle and it's comfortable and spacious. There's a guy on TikTok who deconstructs various brands of bag and comments on the leather quality, sewing, finish etc and he was very complementary about Stathberry. I feel the jury is out on the brand, can't decide if all the is discounting cheapens the brand.

They’re nice but I don’t like the top handle. Are all Mulberrys heavy? I gave my Bayswater away because it was too heavy but my two Tessie crossbody bags are no heavier than any of my other bags.

Petrine · 24/01/2024 13:19

@BIossomtoes No, I guess not all Mulberrys are heavy. Mine are all old and are in the Darwin leather which I think does tend to be on the heavy side, although beautiful.

I'm loathe to part with them but I just find them too big and heavy now. I was looking at my old Roxanne with fondness the other day but realised that it just doesn't fit with my lifestyle any more.

I totally get that. I used big tote bags - like the Bayswater- all the time when I worked. Now I don’t need big bags any more and all those I currently use are small cross bodies because I like to have my hands free. I can’t justify this (very light) one because I already own far too many bags but I do love it.

@BIossomtoes That's a very cute little bag!

With regard to the Strathberry Mosaic bag - I love the bottle green colour... the thing I'm unsure about is the depth of the bag at its base. I'm wondering if it juts out too much when worn alongside the body. Anyone found this?

OP posts:
FIFIBEBE · 24/01/2024 14:19

I worried about the wider base sticking out when worn crossbody but I think it looks fine.
Re your old Mulberry bags: if you have the space keep them. Really old ones seem to have little relative resale value. I regret selling or donating Bayswaters and a Roxanne. They were perfect for a different stage of life and have associated memories.

Petrine · 24/01/2024 15:39

@FIFIBEBE Yes, I think you might well be right. I have Bayswaters too and now and again they're useful. I often use them as shoppers with the top open. As you say, they're probably not worth selling.

I'm relieved at the thought of not selling as I absolutely hate the hassle of putting things on Ebay!

I know. I love it but I really don’t need it. I keep looking at it and it’s such a bargain.

I’d probably have kept my Bayswater but my stepdaughter loves it and it’s hers now. I love the idea of her daughter having it one day and proudly using “Granny’s handbag”.

Mulberry are having a sample sale between 30th Jan-3rd Feb at Showcase Regent St London. I can't copy a link but you could find details easily. Strathberry are offering an extra 10% off sale prices until Monday. Sorry to be an enabler.
