Help for a dress to wear to a party please!

I'm going to a party in a hotel, it's a disco, buffet type event. About 150 people. I've been asked to give a short speech by the host.

Id really like to wear a dress but I'm struggling. I'm early 40s, 5 '6, size 12.
Budget upto £90 absolute max.
I've been trawling through vinted but not sure what I'm actually looking for.

I tried on this dress from Phase Eight but it was so full of static it clung in all the wrong places. It covered my arms though which was a bonus!

Any suggestions please?

I mean you say you're 40 but do you want to blend in with the shadows? I think that dress is not the one for you. Go for a splash of colour!

I only happened to see it when I was in there with someone else. Phase Eight isn't somewhere I'd normally shop tbh.
