Lipstick brands that older teens/young 20s like?

My niece turns 20 this week, thought I might get her a good quality lipstick but wanted to ask if anyone knew what people about her age might consider a premium brand? I though maybe Fenty Beauty? And perhaps Mac is a perennial favourite for lipstick?

Interested in colour recommendations as well - she has lovely 'Snow White' colouring, with dark brown hair and eyes and pale skin, I think she tends to wear fairly natural brownish-red colours day to day but can pull off a pillarbox red for dressing up. So reds and brown-ish reds are her shades, I don't think I've seen her wear pink tones.

Either of the brands you have said or Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk is a popular one.

Charlotte tilsbury … but I’d go for Chanel as a gift the packaging is lovely (I’m old however so Charlotte tilsbury is safer bet)

have to say I’d get a gift voucher for selfridges though, as if she doesn’t like a lipstick then it’s an expensive mistake and she can’t swap it

I find pillow talk (and CT lipstick in general) v cakey

Nars sheer glow lipstick is lovely quality and buildable - my favourite is Damage a kind of purple colour which isn't as bizarre as it sounds - although I am not so sure of Nars' animal testing credentials so you may need to know if that is a consideration

Agree with PP that Chanel is also a lovely gift lipstick and lovely quality you get get a nice red for sure

DD is 19, that age range are far more into the trendy 90s style lip glosses than lipstick. These Dior lip oils have been the holy grail for a few years now! DD uses the cherry one and it is gorgeous, really nicely pigmented. She also uses the Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey from time to time, it’s a really lovely shade that is buildable so suits every occasion and skin tone

It's tilbury not tilsbury.

Not being a pedant but I hate to think of people going around saying the wrong thing and people sniggering behind their backs.
