Christening outfit that isn't a dress

I'm going to a christening in a couple of weeks (as a godparent) and I really don't want to wear a dress. I'm thinking black wide leg trousers that I can wear for work afterwards, but I'm really struggling with what style of top to put with them? I have a long camel coat I would probably wear as church is usually freezing, unless a blazer would look better.

I was thinking a romper, but obviously misunderstood.

A cashmere sweater with a cowl neck. Try Woolovers

I was about to post that it needs to be white. Then realised it isn't for you.

It is for you, I meant!

I was recently at a baptism - people wore nice sweaters and black trousers, boots, and smart coats. It was a chilly day. The poor baby was wearing her little frilly dress but had a cosy blanket to snuggle into.

Churches can be bloody freezing

I'd wear a jumper or at least a shirt and cardi
