Fair Isle jumpers after Christmas

I have a couple of really nice fair Isle jumpers but find I stop wearing them after Christmas. Do you carry on wearing yours throughout the year when cold enough? Mine aren't obviously Christmassy (no snow flakes in design etc.) but I wonder whether people would think I was wearing a Christmas jumper.

I don’t see why not! I am planning to wear my Fair Isle cardigan with jeans.

MillicentTheMagnificent · 21/01/2024 16:30

Yes, totally fine imo, especially as no snowflakes etc

Fair Isle has nothing to do with Christmas. I have several Fair Isle cardigans which I wear when it's cold. I wouldn't be seen dead and buried in a "Christmas jumper"

GeneCity · 21/01/2024 16:31

I do! I love mine.

This.
Fair Isle jumpers are not Christmas jumpers. I also wear mine all through autumn into winter (and whenever it's cold enough to wear a warm jumper).

I don't wear Fair Isle jumpers, but if you do, the pattern is fine to wear whatever time. I would find it strange and wasteful to restrict the wearing of clothes to a particular time of year (in ways other than the weather).

I have two fair isle jumpers basically on rotation at the moment. Neither are festive, both are cosy and warm.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/01/2024 16:44

Christmas is only the beginning of winter, its often way colder in Jan and Feb than it is in December so go ahead and wear the lovely warm jumper!

I have a Sugarhill Brighton jumper with stars on the arms and people kept asking me if it was a Christmas jumper, which I thought was odd.

Just the answers I wanted to hear, thank you! I don't have Christmas jumpers so they are what I've worn on Christmas jumper/meal days at work when everyone else is dressed festively as they are knitted and patterned in a similar way to proper Christmas jumpers. I guess that's what made me think people might think it was odd if I carried on wearing now.

Is anyone says anything just remind then the knit pattern isn't about Christmas, i wear mine throughout winter.

crumpet · 21/01/2024 17:38

Claudia was happily wearing hers on the Traitors!

mrsbyers · 21/01/2024 17:38

Got mine on right now

Beebumble2 · 21/01/2024 17:40

Yes and my Fair Isle socks!

New2024 · 21/01/2024 17:59

Definitely wear them when it’s cold. I don’t do actual Christmas jumpers. I have a few sparkly jumpers that I tend to wear in the run up to Christmas. Only one of them is a bit too seasonal to wear after New Year. Its pattern could be interpreted as a bit like a Christmas decoration. All the others, including a green Arran in sparkly wool definitely get worn throughout winter
