What to do with hair for black tie do?

Got a black tie do on Friday, also have a hair appointment. Hair dresser has said she will have time to style it if I come with some ideas of what I'd like.

Don't want an up do.
Photo isn't of me but closest I could get to my hair online. It's slightly tapered at the front and I have a fringe.
Other than just curling it a bit with the straighteners, how would you style it (with pics/links if possible please), Thanks

I would just get a blow dry in my normal style. I think "done" hair looks a bit silly. I was at an event recently and there were lots of ghd curls and they just looked a bit off.

Just leave it as it is

If your hair is as nice as the photo I’d leave it like that. I also dislike the curls/waves thing at the moment

I was at one the end of November and I’m helpless with hair. I just straightened it and it looked great!

I like it as it is. Anything too styled is a bit promy or bridesmaidy. I think just a nice blowdry is probably your best bet.

Thank you, I was a bit nervous about curls so you've all helped me realise I can leave as is, albeit blow dried by a professional. This isn't my hair, just something similar.

What are you wearing?

Neckline and jewelery would have an impact on the decision for me.

OMGitsnotgood · 21/01/2024 15:50

Long sleeveless dress with a wide round neck, lowish so a big gap between dress and chin, but not low enough to see lots of cleavage, if that makes sense

This isn't the dress but similar neckline.

That dress is lovely, very understated & simple. Keep your hair the same for maximum impact.

Sorry if not clear, this isn't my dress, someone asked a hit the neckline and tbat was nearest I could find. Dress is a bit fuller in the skirt but is also fairly simple

If you want a slight difference then ask them to put it up at the sides a bit. Or maybe a French pleat/plait/tuck if you suits you.
