Hey guys. Has anyone used a home IPL kit? And if so, would you recommend?

I've been looking at a the Braun IPL Silk-Expert Pro 5 and the Philips Lumea IPL Hair Removal Advance, but no idea if either is different to the other? Or, if there's a better one?

If anyone has an advise please share! Thank you :)

I bought a Philips Lumea several years ago, not sure which model, but it has been a complete life changer. I wish I had been able to have one many years ago when I was younger, it would have made such a difference. I very rarely need to use it now, just a few times a year.

I really recommend a home laser IPL. Like pp, I wish I'd gotten mine sooner. I'm 3 weeks in and can already see a big difference. I bought the "smooth skin pure fit". It's so easy to use. It automatically detects your skin tone and gives just the right amount of laser. You can turn it right down in intensity if you need to. But it's super fast, I can do everything (legs, pits, chin) in under 10 minutes.

That sounds amazing. What brand and how expensive? 🙏

I have the Phillips and it's a game changer. However I bought the original one direct from the Phillips website last year, which is considerably cheaper than the more recent versions of it. Main difference seems to be you get different shaped heads for different area with the newer versions. I've managed my legs and bikini line with the original no problem, (haven't bothered doing underarms).

I have a Lumea and I swear it's my most prized possession. I did a lot of research before buying it as I was between that and the Braun one and for my kind of skin/hair combination I thought the Lumea was more appropriate. Your kind of skin and hair is something that you have to consider as not every machine works the same for everyone

Same. I got mine 4 years ago and used it religiously on my armpits and legs and lip/chin. Two pregnancies later (you can't use it while pregnant) and I'm tackling my lower arms and upper thighs - I've done my original areas once or twice, but they honestly barely need touching after my original go. So worth it. I am very pale and have very dark hair though.

I have a Lumea Prestige - it’s awesome, total game changer. Never would have believed it if I hadn’t bought one myself. I’m pale with dark hair. Use it on under arms, legs, bikini line and it works really well. Worth every penny.

I bought this about 3 years ago. It's absolutely amazing. I have hardly any hair left.

How good a shave to you need to have before using an ipl. I’d love one but can’t wet shave as it makes my legs intensely itchy afterwards. From what I’ve read a dry electric razor wouldn’t be a close enough shave though?

Oh thanks so much guys! I abandoned this thread as I didn't think I had any responses. I'm loving how much you all love these - I'm totally getting one now. Philips Lumea looks like the winner :)
