Do pink and yellow really not go?

Today I dressed dd who is nearly 2 in soft beige cord trousers, a pale lemon Dora t-shirt and on top a pale pink and white stripy cardigan - it was a new outfit that she had picked out herself and she looked really cute. My mum is going through a bit of a bitchy phase and said 'oh dear, didn't anyone ever tell you that pink and yellow don't go' . She's going through a rough patch having just lost her job but she is being a bit odd - luckily dd didn't seem to notice what was said. So go on, have I committed a fashion faux-pas?!

It works for Tombliboo Ee!

Seriously, I see nothing wrong with what you describe. Give your mum the old "if you can't say something nice..." line.

Monet's favourite combo apparently.

And dd's (7) too!

themildmanneredbunny · 19/03/2008 12:01

they do go! they l;ook gorgeous together!

dizzychixies · 19/03/2008 12:01

ffs on a 2yr old, who cares, you think she looks cute and she's happy - you want to see some of the stuff my kids pick to wear themselves - good for her for picking out the stuff herself!!

your mother is being unreasonable an shouldn't be worrying a young child about such menial things as that - daft mare, at least your dd didn't hear her

am and for you!!!

cadelaide · 19/03/2008 12:01

So tell her "...if it was good enough for Monet.."

Jenkeywoo · 19/03/2008 12:04

I'm glad other people are shocked too - I was a bit upset earlier but rang my sister and we concluded that she is very unhappy at present so are trying to cut her some slack. Last week she made me cry by accusing me of being the reason why my dd's wouldn't eat their healthy dinner (actually mum, it's cos they spent the morning with you being fed crap).

Looks lovely in dd's bedroom.

It definitely sounds like your mum has ishooes that are unrelated to your dd's attire, but to set your mind at rest, pink and yellow go really well and look gorgeous.

CatIsSleepy · 19/03/2008 12:08

pink and yellow don't go? has she never heard of battenburg cake?

LittleMissBliss · 19/03/2008 12:08

They look lovely together especially on little girls.

choccypig · 19/03/2008 12:09

Pink and yellow goes beautifully. Always reminds me of spring and easter bunnies.

I always think you should look to nature for guidance on which colours go. And as you get lots of pink & yellow flowers, your mum is quite frankly speaking bollocks
