This Boss Belt - Something Bothers Me…

It’s the right size and the leather is lovely. It’s the buckle. Logo is subtle enough, though I usually avoid as much as possible. But buckle does not have an indentation for middle stick to sit in. So, the stick moves when not fastened and I think will scratch the buckle. Attention to detail is what I would want from a forever accessory and happy to pay for as investment. This cost me £40 from Next Clearance for context.

I have a tendency to obsess and find faults, so is this the one where I am being overly picky or has someone had a Boss belt and it’s all about the logo, not really quality?

Waste of money

I can't say I'm keen on it and if it has that design fault you are right, it will bother you. I'd return it and get one similar without that issue. The "boss' logo is not worth the extra money.

I really like it. It’s simple and elegant. I guess the absence of that design feature might be why it’s reduced. But in my view it’s worth £40 and I would keep it for that price if I otherwise liked it (which I do). But I’m not at all fussy really (probably not fussy enough and hardly notice stuff like this). Return it if you won’t wear it.

Do you like the belt? I think £40 for a leather belt is really reasonable and its an understated, classic belt that you would likely get plenty of wear out of. The indentation wouldn't have even crossed my mind tbh. You can pay that for a non leather belt so to get a belt where you describe the leather as 'lovely ' for that price is a bargain. If you're unsure about the style of it though just send it back

Also, it might help to think of it as a really nice belt that you will get a lot of wear out of and not a 'forever accessory' or an 'investment'. I dont think its either of those things hence the price point. I would definitely keep it at that price though if I was looking for a leather belt.

It would drive me mad and with no recess will just get caught up on clothing. Take it back!

RosyappleA · 16/01/2024 14:06

I just bought this and despite no recess it doesn’t catch and is very comfortable and flexible. Gold buckle though.
I have been disappointed by some of these well known brands time and time again and I don’t even think the leather on that example is decent. I now prefer belts that are quality but relatively inexpensive like the ones from The House of Braur and wish I hadn’t wasted money on some of these higher end brands.

Hugo Boss was a Nazi, and a sponsor of the SS. His company used slave labour to manufacture Nazi uniforms. I know it was a long time in the past, but I still wouldn't buy their products. People boycott companies for a lot less than that.

A poor design. Send it back.
