It's a friend's 59th party.

I've not been to a club for 20 years. What do I wear?????

6ft tall. Size 14. Prefer jeans and trousers.

Am clueless.

What sort of club? Working Man's / Underground rave / Hits of the 80s / ???

TBH, at 50 I'd likely wear what I felt like wearing regardless of the event. Which would be flat sturdy boots and maybe a short velvet dress. Or jeans and long sleeve mesh top. Lipstick, earrings.

The beauty of going clubbing in your 50s is that you care so much less about wearing the “right” thing! The only thing I’d say was essential is a pair of comfortable boots/trainers.

Clubbing 'older' friend swears by glitter Converse low tops for upping a trouser outfit but still being able to dance for hours!

I've not been to a club recently but looked at photos on Facebook of Canvas in Bournemouth, a nightclub with generally an aged 30+ clientele up to 60something.. I'm tempted to go as they have old school trance nights..,
Friends of mine go to Bar So with a younger under 40 demographic but the clothes the women wear are quite similar actually!

Anyway, the women who don't wear short dresses / cropped tops & minis/ bodycon tend to wear smart black jeans / black trousers with a sexy top ( basically a cami / lacy top / tight top / corset etc) and a colourful blazer.
Some women wear blouses (unbuttoned to show off a cami or bra).

Not sure on footwear as it's dark but I'm sure smart flats / smart ankle boots would be fine.
Only wear trainers if the dress code says it's ok.
