I dye my hair using the same dye for the past 10 years. I last dyed it about 6-8 weeks ago.
About 4 weeks ago, I ended up with red, itchy eyelids and needed an antihistamine. I put it down to a mascara I had used. I have since had a similar reaction after I've used different products/mascaras so I went for an allergy test. It showed a reaction to phenylenediamine which is in most hair dyes :( I'm devastated as I don't really do anything girlie other than dye my hair.
- Can I dye my hair again & Just put up with the reaction?
- Are there any decent red dyes that are PPD free?
- Is it even likely this caused the eyelid sensitivity, given that it's happened over the last 4 weeks and I've no dyed my hair at all for about 6-8 weeks?
