Hair dye - allergic to an ingredient?

I dye my hair using the same dye for the past 10 years. I last dyed it about 6-8 weeks ago.

About 4 weeks ago, I ended up with red, itchy eyelids and needed an antihistamine. I put it down to a mascara I had used. I have since had a similar reaction after I've used different products/mascaras so I went for an allergy test. It showed a reaction to phenylenediamine which is in most hair dyes :( I'm devastated as I don't really do anything girlie other than dye my hair.

  1. Can I dye my hair again & Just put up with the reaction?
  2. Are there any decent red dyes that are PPD free?
  3. Is it even likely this caused the eyelid sensitivity, given that it's happened over the last 4 weeks and I've no dyed my hair at all for about 6-8 weeks?

Can I dye my hair again & Just put up with the reaction? yes, you could. But the reaction might be much worse.
