What colour bag to go with brown leather coat?

I treated myself to a brown leather trench coat in the autumn. I love it, but it makes my (admittedly ancient) handbag look rather faded and scruffy. I’m considering buying myself a new one in the sales, but I can’t find anything I like and I’m not sure which colour will go best. Current bag is olive green, so I feel like a change. Needs to not be brown as coat is brown. Black seems boring. I wondered about taupe? Beige? Maybe I should stick with green after all! Any suggestions?

What colour of boots/shoes do you normally wear? Not that you have to be matchy, but you don't want to clash either.

I would match with a dark blue or teal blue bag

Tan boots, lighter than the coat

Terracotta / rust colour or red?

Amy warm tone - yellow, orange, maroon, etc. Or, as per PP, if you're likely to wear it with say jeans, you could go with blue tones.
