Are Denim Jackets not 'In' anymore?

KissTheRains · 08/01/2024 19:35

I've broad shoulders and would like a fairly simple old school Denim Jacket to wear with a nice top or a crisp button up shirt under with some nice necklace to distract from my rugby player shoulders...

Is it not a thing anymore? A bad idea?

I looked all over MK today.. I know MK is the height of cool.. 😁

Any suggestions? Budget up to £2.50 and a Marathon bar... or £100 which ever.

Vinted all the way!!!

Nousernamesleftatall · 08/01/2024 20:37

I think they are more of a summer thing.

Traumdeuter · 08/01/2024 20:38

Agree about Vinted. I have and wear a denim jacket but I bought it in 1998

MadamVastra · 08/01/2024 20:38

I hope not I wear my Levi's one all
the time

saturnspinkhoop · 08/01/2024 20:39

I wonder if you’re better off waiting a couple of months for more choices to come into the shops.

KissTheRains · 08/01/2024 20:52

Hmm I'll check Vinted. Hard to try on though on there.. I suppose if I get.one that doesn't fit I can record a Hulk cosplay.. 🤪

I'm prematurely denimhunting and should wait then? Maybe Vinted for now and then spring go to the shops again. 🤔

I know Levi's are good, any other brands? I don't want fitted, but I don't want to buy a men's one.

It's a summer jacket so there will be loads in the shops soon enough

adultsizedogbed · 08/01/2024 20:53

They are a summer thing , the shops won't have many although I bet you'd get one from next website .

LaurieStrode · 08/01/2024 21:20

I'd buy used from ebay or Vinted.

LoreleiG · 08/01/2024 21:22

I looked at denim jackets yesterday and saw loads! I don’t think they are ever not in.

Victoryai · 08/01/2024 21:24

Not in the bleak midwinter, no.

On Vinted?

I've just been and looked and there's a whole load on there. 😁
Cheap too so I can pick up a couple for trying and sell on if they don't work.

I love a demin jacket!
I have a blue denim fitted one, a black one, a purple one and an oversized light blue one 😂 I love them all

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 08/01/2024 21:26

I bought a nice oversized one in the Zara sale a couple of weeks ago. Try their website?

YoullCatchYourDeathInTheFog · 08/01/2024 21:30

I'd hit the charity shops. They're sufficiently basic that you might well find one there and you can try them on. I'd find looking for one on Vinted way too difficult because you want the perfect length and fit and you'd end up faffing around returning things.

ThePoshUns · 08/01/2024 21:36

Always in as a classic piece but wrong time of year right now

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 08/01/2024 21:39

Try H&M or Roman Originals, both have traditional style jackets and a good range of sizes.

fatphalange · 08/01/2024 21:55

Not in winter, no

KissTheRains · 08/01/2024 22:13

You know I don't recall seeing a single charity shop today in Milton Keynes. 🤔

They had a Zara, but I didn't go in as it was packed.
John Lewis seemed pricey.
Fat face I like, but none in there.
Primark had a denim jacket but one with hoody sleeves and hood attached, I didn't like that.
TKMaxx was a washout, nothing at all in there I liked.
H&M I couldn't see any.
I think they have a white stuff but I couldn't find it.

White Stuff is at the opposite end to John Lewis, down near M&S

LoreleiG · 08/01/2024 23:34

No I saw some in online shops. I forget which now but have just googled and you could try Next which has easy returns.

suki1964 · 08/01/2024 23:45

Shop I work have them come in from Crew clothing and Joules , I have the Crew Clothing one, the Joules I thought a bit too lightweight

Last one, that died two years ago I bought over 20 years ago from H&M :)

You wouldn't, because Vinted doesn't allow returns unless the item is not as described (and even then you're out of pocket for the return postage, even though it's the seller's fault).

But that's worse.

Oh yes, now you say that, I remember that that's how it works.
That strengthens the case for charity shops where you can try things on then. As you can tell, I don't do Vinted/eBay or online clothes shopping at all really.
