Hi all, I'm desperately trying to up my game with self care this year (definitely joining the Princessing thread soon!) I've bought a L'Oreal long stay Pillow Talk dupe but it leaves my lips really dry 😞Can anyone recommend a lip balm that would work underneath the colour to moisturise my lips but wouldn't make the lip colour slide off please?
Trying very hard to Princess but falling at the first hurdle 😞!!

Bump.

I’m actually interested in this too because every lipstick dries my lips, even the “hydrating” ones.

I use Vaseline when I’m not wearing lip colour and before bed but saw recently that it is just a barrier and doesn’t moisturise lips, so I’d like to find something that is, so I can see some improvement.

I’ve tried Nuxe Miele and Elizabeth Arden 8hr lip and many more but nothing really seems to work.

Mac Prep and Prime lip is good

la Roche Posay Cicaplast is great to use at night to moisturize lips. My DH had really cracked and dry lips; this was recommended by a pharmacist and it did wonders for him. I've been using it at night as well.

I'm not sure about under long-stay lipstick though. I would moisturize at night, apply long-stay lippy, let it dry, then put a balm on top.

I also rate MAC prep and prime.

Nuxe lip balm in the pot.

I second the Roche Posay Cicaplast, it's a moisturiser but perfect to use on lips, apply in the morning and at night. I also love Nuxe honey lip balm and Laneige lip masks (both are the pot version) for applying a thick layer to sink in overnight

La Neige lip masks are gorgeous.

Lip primer.

Mac and Trish McEvoy both do very good ones. I think the Trish McEvoy one is a bit better, but Mac Prep and Prime is still very good.

I love the maybelline long stay lipsticks and I bought carmex

Goldenretrievermum · 10/01/2024 16:29

La Neige is horrendously overpriced and absolutely ruined my lips, wouldn’t go near it. Used it regularly for a few weeks and genuinely my lips have never been so dried, cracked and sore in my life!

Wow! Thanks everyone, I'm off to check out all of your suggestions, I really appreciate the help 💐
