Really trivial: how do you pronounce BIAB (nails)?

This is so trivial but I am getting my nails done for the first time in forever next week. I have read really good things about ‘BIAB’ (builder in a bottle) and want to ask the manicurist about it but I’ve only seen it written down.

Is it bye - ab?
bee-ab?
or do you say the initials individually, bee-eye-aye-bee?!

Bee-ab

ICANTSPEYK · 05/01/2024 17:49

Bye-ab is what I and everyone else I know say (including my nail lady)

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 05/01/2024 18:45

That’s a 50% split so far!

bananaboats · 05/01/2024 21:49

I've only heard it pronounced as bye-ab

CantStandMeow · 05/01/2024 21:51

Bye-ab.

And I concur that it's amazing!

lavenderphase · 05/01/2024 21:52

idontlikealdi · 05/01/2024 21:53

B I a b!

pecanpie101 · 05/01/2024 21:55

It's bye ab

thewreckofthehesperus · 05/01/2024 22:01

Bye ab here too

lavenderphase · 05/01/2024 22:20

Or just ask for builder gel. 😀

LolaLaLaLou · 05/01/2024 22:36

Former nail tech here - it's bye-ab but some awkward techs will correct you from saying bye-ab as that's a particular brand. Builder gel is the correct term really.

Speaking of the particular brand, please do some googling on white bottle brands before you go for an appointment and check which brand the tech will be using. Certain brands are currently hiding some quite severe nail allergies as a result of their ingredients.

Agree with all of this! It's become a common term like hoover instead of vacuum cleaner, but it is a brand name of a white bottle brand that is quite problematic.

I just call it builder, but I use a different brand. And it's brilliant stuff.

Builder gel sounds like the safest option! Thanks all.
