Horribly outgrown hair - going for curly cut tomorrow

Hi all,
I've been trying to grow my hair for my wedding later this year but every day I'm just pulling it back and it looks rubbish. Its naturally curly and when I worse it down, yes, it was a bit more effort, but I definitely looked better.
Currently, it's just outgrown and zero shape. I look awful. I'm going for a curl by curl cut tomorrow and excited. Does anyone know what I should ask for/how they do this? I've been told to go with it down and run-styled (which will be hideous in itself!)

They'll want to see your curl pattern. There's no point if you style your hair as it's not helpful. Usually, it's a dry cut with amendments after styling. I always used to leave it to the stylist to decide.

Take some photos of cuts you like, that's always helpful
My current hairdresser asks me to come with it styled but I've had hairdressers say no product before

Yes completely unstyled and with minimal product is best for a curl by curl cut. Definitely take a few pics with you for inspiration. Hope it goes well!

Thanks for the tips, all. I've washed my hair and left it to dry naturally today for the first time in about a year...god it looks dire! Can't wait to see if they can make anything out of this rats nest tomorrow :)
