Shoes / boots with mom jeans or a better alternative

I have an awkward figure for jeans: Pear shaped, large belly, thick legs and thighs and cankles. Size 16 -18 although more 16.

My best jeans at the moment are high waisted mom jeans (they are forgiving over the stomach and thighs) but struggling with foot wear

Any gap emphasises the cankle but any boot won't fit under it (due to cankle)

I have some doc Martin shes that are ok but not comfortable. Nike AF1 empathise the cankles and some other more sporty trainers. If I wear the sport trainers it all looks a bit scruffy!

I do love trainers though so any thoughts

I've asked @MNHQ to move to S & B!

Bumping for you as I have the same issue but unfortunately no answers!

@PretendingToBePosh solidarity is greatly appreciated.

I've never heard of this problem before.

What about some nice brogues? I've got a beautiful pair of Embassy ones that I got second hand and they are super comfortable.
I have DM shoes too but again were second hand so someone else had already done the hard work of wearing them in.
I keep seeing Mary Jane-type ballet flats around. They'd look nice with mom jeans, I think.
Converse?

I have similar issues - the only boot that works for me is a Chelsea boot, with jeans either full length or turned up a bit. Clarks Orinoco are quite close fitting so fit under jeans.

Other than that it's trainers (of various types) with jeans worn full length so no gap. Would be good to have a new alternative though!

I go for a boot and a long scrunched down sock to hide the gap. Lounge socks / wool socks tend to be my search term

I cant believe you've bought up Embassy brogues.

I had my heart set on the cerise and gold ones and missed the boat

No longer available and the boot is not in my size.

Broken hearted

OP - what about thick scrumpled socks with DMs. Disguises the cankle
