Best Foundation or CC cream for 40+ ??

I like IT cosmetics CC cream but the shades only work for me in the summer with a tan. The 'light' is otherwise too dark and fair is too light!

What else is really easy to apply and gives a lovely natural finish?

Erborian cc cream. Awesome stuff.

Getamoveon36 · 30/12/2023 19:18

Trinny bff destress. Lovely.

Porridgeislife · 30/12/2023 19:46

Have you tried the Fair shades in IT cosmetics? They are lighter than the Light shades. I am very very fair (NC10 in MAC) and Fair Porcelain is fine on me.

Porridgeislife · 30/12/2023 19:47

Sorry just saw you’ve tried the Fair shades.

Fair seems too light for me. Light is too dark. Just doesn't work for me at the moment

I only use max factor cc cream. It's amazing and only £3.99 in b&m.

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/12/2023 20:05

I have the same issue with IT CC shades but Erborian BB creme in Nude is perfect!!

onedream · 30/12/2023 20:09

Erborian definitely, I use the cc on every day basis, I am 40 and it's perfect for my skin, it is very light and looks natural on, I wouldn't be without it..I have the erborian bb too I use when I want more coverage..

Really? Is nude somewhere between light and fair?

Yes! @rolsete It's perfect. Lighter coverage than IT CC but somehow makes your skin look amazing. The Erborian CC shades don't work for me but the BB in Nude is exactly right - I had the same issue as you that IT CC was too dark in Fair apart from in summer and Light made me look like a vampire. 😂I know IT CC have increased their number of shades now but I love the Erborian BB so much that there's no going back.

rolsete · 30/12/2023 20:16

That's really helpful, thank you!

@rolsete I've got Fair and Light the wrong way round in IT CC, apologies, but you know what I mean! (Still remember the old days when IT CC only came in 3 shades and Light was the palest despite not actually being very light lol).

MabelMoo23 · 30/12/2023 20:27

I’m Erborian CC crème as well in shade Clair

I’ve got a Trinny BFF destress as well and whilst I don’t hate it, I don’t love it and I’ll finish it but I wouldn’t buy it again. Erborian far better

although I’ve just tried a sample of Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin foundation and it was gorgeous so am tempted.

Following with interest. Everything just looks shit on me ATM 🙁. Both Eborian and Trinny look great at first but neither has any staying power. Still have to set with powder, which kind of defeats the object.

Even then I can sneeze into a tissue/wipe my nose and the whole lot is gone. Looks like I never had anything on at the end of the day. Double wear looks terrible and cakey, as do most other brands. Ugh. Hate this stage of life.

Allshallbewell2021 · 30/12/2023 20:34

Boots #7 foundations are good for fair skin

Bornonsunday · 30/12/2023 20:34

Does anyone else have issues with the Erborian bobbling? I have quite dry skin so wondering if that's why. 🤔

TheOGCCL · 30/12/2023 20:38

I always recommend Nars radiant tinted moisturiser. Makes a big difference but doesn't look like it is.

@LutonBeds have you tried the Trinny allday? Should have better staying powder than the destress?

I haven’t. I do have a Harvey Nichols in a nearby city so might see if I can get there and try it. Thanks!

Iorderedyouapancake · 30/12/2023 21:34

I’m also mid 40s and have recently discovered chantecaille and loving it - I have the Just Skin tinted moisturiser and the Future Skin foundation and they are both brilliant for me (although the colour range in the moisturiser is more limited so I get a better match in the foundation). They’re not cheap but I’ve wasted so much money on other brands that haven’t really worked for my skin I don’t really care any more!

if you have a space NK near you I’ve found they will happily give you a sample with enough in to last a few days so you can try things out properly before you buy.

WhereAreWeNow · 30/12/2023 22:03

I like Erborian BB and Estee Lauder DW Sheer.

aishelyfinch · 14/10/2024 12:56

I had the same issue with IT Cosmetics! I switched to Perbelle CC Cream, and it’s great for year-round use. The formula adapts to your skin tone, so I don’t have to worry about finding the right shade. It’s lightweight, super easy to apply, and gives a natural, radiant finish.

CointreauVersial · 14/10/2024 13:03

I am a huge fan of the Erborian CC cream. I use shade Clair, but it's a little bit too light for me, so I just add a few drops of liquid bronzer and mix it together on my hand before applying. It just stays put, doesn't go patchy no matter how much I rub it around, and regardless of what I put underneath it.

I've also tried the IT Cosmetics CC, but just couldn't get the shade right - ended up giving it to DD1 who's paler than me. It's also fuller coverage than Erborian, which I didn't like as much.

Erborian cc cream. Awesome stuff.

This with Bells on X100

umberellaonesie · 14/10/2024 13:07

Estee Lauder futurist hydra rescue it is nice and light has staying power and good shade range.
I use this daily and then double wear for nights out heavier coverage.
